Nine practising nurses received their Master of Science degrees in a ceremony last Friday (25/11/06) at the National Institute of Education. This follows four years of hard work following the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) programme. The graduates are Beryl Camille - Elsia Sinon - Florida Bijoux - Gylian Mein - Jean D’Arc Suzette - Flossy Baker - Linda Philoe - Marie-Antoinette Hoarau and Mirena Souris. Le Nouveau Seychelles Weekly would like to extend its congratulations to the graduates and wish them well in all their future undertakings. “Good Luck! You make Seychelles proud.”

According to official figures for 2006; 120,880 people have visited Seychelles so far this year, an improvement of 12% on last year’s figures for the same period. However, the Ministry of Tourism, the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) and the Ministry of Finance have all failed so far in releasing figures stating how much money, obviously in foreign exchange, the 120,880 visitors brought into the local economy. ... read more
