WILL SPPF MAKE A MOCKERY OF THE LAW FOR POLITICAL EXPEDIENCY?
Rumours have it that the SPPF will ignore the rules of the National Assembly, which was passed in unanimity in August 1994 when the DP was the official opposition, to re-debate a new motion of dissolution which they expect to pass on the strength of their numbers. If this happens, it will make the Legislative body a laughing stock of the world and a shame on our country. read more

Today there are three active political parties in Seychelles. SPPF (the Seychelles People’s Progressive Front) is one among the three. The other two are the Seychelles National Party (SNP) and the Democratic Party (DP). At least these are the ones registered and recognised by the existing law that governs the existence of political parties in our democracy. The purpose of a political party is to bring together citizens sharing common ideals for the purpose governing the country. Free and fair democratic elections are the means by which the people choose the leaders to govern them through institutions established by the Constitution which is the fundamental law. read more
THE SECRET IS NOW OUT IN THE OPEN
In the twenty-nine years that the SPPF has been in power they have imposed fear on the population in general. The fear factor has contributed largely in the past towards them winning elections. With the passing of time the fear factor has naturally diminished and after the forthcoming election it should become a thing of the past. read more

DID THE ELECTORAL COMMISSIONER CONSPIRE WITH THE SPPF TOO?
Last week, the SPPF saturated the airways of the State broadcasting media SBC throughout the week advertising a rally. Ostensibly, the rally was to celebrate 42 years of the creation of the party, even though the party was created in 1978. BISHOP EXPRESSES FEAR OF VIOLENCE FOR THE ELECTION BECAUSE OF INTOLERANCE
It was supposed to be the event that galvanised the SPPF faithful behind their presidential candidate. Instead it turned into a damning indictment of 29 years of SPPF rule. For even after reportedly spending over Rs. 500,000 to organise the rally, SPPF could only attract a meagre crowd at the peak of the event as our photograph clearly shows. The writing, as they say, is clearly on the wall, or better still the hockey pitch.
