RALPH VOLCERE’S WEEK
RENE FINDS DIRT WHERE THERE IS NONE
It is obvious that Rene will fight to the death in an effort to keep his SPPF in government, a clear sign of someone with a lot to hide. Mr. Rene should not be afraid; I am of the opinion that he should be forgiven of all his political sins committed whilst in office to allow him a peaceful retirement. However, there is only a small matter of slander for him to answer to. He dared me to initiate legal action against him because he has proof, this proof I will love to see, because I am sure it does not exist and Mr. Rene is bluffing as usual. And as far as the statement he made in regards to my person it is a total fabrication aimed at assassinating my good character.
The worst part of this childish outburst from the former president was when he tried to scare people employed in the civil service. Rene tried but failed in his attempt at blaming the inefficiencies of the SPPF government on people hiding flies in drawers. If Jj – Michel and Belmont already know of this problem (files in drawers) why do they have to wait until after the election to deal with it? Why not deal with it right now and be done with this problem for good?
This is not the first time we’ve heard this little tale from Mr. Rene. Good try Mr. Rene, but no-one is falling for it this time, even the children amongst your crowd on Sunday are not - you will have to do better next time. Now that every single civil servant is aware of the fact that they are being targeted by Rene and Jj - they are sure to vote for the opposition in order to keep their job after the election.
MICHEL HAS TALKED THE WALK BUT WILL NEVER WALK THE TALK
Michel cannot wait to hand over the presidency to the opposition candidate. It has become a collar too heavy to wear and all the signs are that he lacks the neck to carry it around for the next five years. Rene and his associates are sticking to Jj like glue and no matter how hard Jj tries to shake them off they latch onto them harder than ever before.
Rene took centre stage again last Sunday in castigating opposition leaders. Francis Savy stood close and erupted in wild celebration when Rene pronounced his threats. It is clear that they are in control and Michel and
On Tuesday the ‘Seychelles Nation’ did its bit to help the SPPF achieve their objective of extending their stay at State House. According to the Nation, 06/06/06, “an estimated 18,000-strong crowd consisting mainly of supporters of the ruling Seychelles People’s Progressive Front (SPPF)” attended the rally. Why is the ‘Seychelles Nation’ going out of its way to make that point for the ruling party or was the article written at State House by the Communication Advisor?
The crowd was far less than the exaggerated figure put forward by the ‘Nation’, but it could well be considered healthy by any standard. It was also obvious that a good proportion was opposition followers gone down for the fun and at least half of the crowd were children unable to cast a vote at the next election. Mr. Rene commented on the fact that there were “bann pti serpant parmi nou”, meaning that not every one on the field that day supported them or was going to vote for them. The frustration was visible on Michel’s face who got himself entangled with what ‘Sanzman’ really meant to him. No matter how many times you twist it around and juggle it up and down ‘Sanzman’ will always mean one thing: CHANGE.
The wind of change is now upon us and come the 30th of July the people will have had their say in that matter. Michel in the two years that he has been President has talked the walk but has been unable to walk the talk. Michel is clearly not his own man; Rene has stated that he is going no-where and is reluctant to allow Michel a free run of the presidency. When coupled with the state of the economy, it is clear that
