PEOPLE SUPERMARKET OR GHOST SUPERMARKET?

The People’s Supermarket, owned by Dr. Ramadosss has put up its shingles for operation in Mont Fleuri next to a Coffin Shop (Padayachy’s Coffin shop) in a new arcade built by Government of Seychelles funds.

Weekly tried to contact Dr. Ramadosss for his comments regarding the brilliant business angle of placing his supermarket next to a coffin shop. We were unable to get an official comment from him. Perhaps Dr. Ramadosss envisions that shopping at People’s market will be a health hazard that could leave customers dead. Thus, the convenience of being located right next door to a coffin shop. Perhaps Dr. Ramadoss is trying to increase sales in the ghost segment of the commercial market hence locating the supermarket next to the coffin shop and not being too far from the cemetary will help him penetrate this new untested market.  You never know since the good doctor is known to come up with brilliant business ideas, he might just pull off this innovative business concept!

We wish the good doctor all the best in his new venture and success in his new endeavour.

Cubans are in charge!!

Rumours have it that the ruling party is now firmly in the clenched fists of a bunch of Cuban trained politicians. The “Cuban Faction”, as they are commonly known, are made up of Minister of Finance, Mr. Danny Faure, Leader of Government Business, Mrs. Marie Louise Potter, Member of National Assembly, Mr. Andre Pool, Central Committee member, Mr. Simon Gill and Minister for Community Development, Mr. Vincent Meriton. These people are said to be very influential within the SPPF hierarchy and they are the ones dictating the political agenda of the party. If this is so we should then brace ourselves for the worst!

MAN TOLD HE HAD CANCER WHEN IT WAS LEPSTOSPIROSIS

Lepstospirosis is wreaking havoc amongst the populace and many are putting the blame squarely at the door of the National Health Service. Some have argued that in Bangladesh and India many people sleep rough in the street with rats but very few if any die as a result of contracting the disease. This is because of accurate diagnosis and timely and appropriate medical treatment. By allowing our health standard to slip, we are in danger of ending up with a mediocre sub-standard health service likely to take lives rather than save lives. Recently, a young man who attended hospital was diagnosed as having bone cancer. He was told that his body was too weak and would not be able to cope with anaesthetic. The man who also had a British passport promptly left Seychelles in a wheelchair and went to England to get a second medical opinion. Upon consultation by a doctor in England the man was diagnosed with lepstopirosis and has now been completely cured. This is an indictment on our health service! The public in general are now more conscious of their constitutional rights and are taking the government to task before the courts for medical negligence and winning. Let us do something before it is too late.
