Cuba Less Communist Than Seychelles

Minister of Foreign Affairs came back from Cuba rejuvenated and excited about possibilities in Cuba. From finding a vaccines for Leptosirosis to finding additional Medical Doctor staffing and roaming thoughts of the  US Dollar Stores where anyone can buy anything their little hearts may desire. No exchange controls in Cuba. You can possess and float your Dollars to the highest bidder the State will not loose any sleep over the matter. In fact, in CUBA, Government has been encouraging Cubans and families overseas to send as much Dollars into the Country as possible for years. In Seychelles, we have been turned into a bunch of criminals under SPPF to possess any hard currency. We have been discouraged from bringing hard currency into the Country.

Cuba has a population of 11 Million people. They have supported Seychelles through Dire Straits for years. From providing uniforms for the NYS students, to providing diagrams to the Ministry of Education on how an educational system works and for the last few years, providing us with Doctors to work in the Public Health system in Seychelles. But all is not well. Minister Pillay has not told us about the dirt he pushed under the carpet recently while on  his official trip to CUBA to pay homage to his supporters.

The Cuban Doctors in Seychelles want to leave. They are tired, beaten, depressed over the failing health care system in Seychelles. It is becoming disfunctional. Medicine is not adequately available. Professionalism in the vocation is falling to all time lows as SPPF mix politics with medical treatment. The Doctors receive their pay in Rupees and are only allowed foreign exchange  upon leaving Seychelles. Worse then Cuba they say! With the Devaluation of the Seychelles Rupees against hard currencies, the Doctors’ stay here is worth less to say the least, beside from a humanitarian base considerations. The Doctors say Cuba is more free then Seychelles. They want to go home. They say Seychelles is more Communist then Cuba. Having a tenure of Seychelles on the resume hurts their job prospects in Cuba. They just list it as Africa - Tenure.

As the Doctors have complained, the Government of Cuba threatened to withdraw the Doctors from service to Seychelles. Pillay appealed and begged that they stay. In exchange, the Cubans, called on the Minister to declare outrage over the US Embargo against Cuba. Placed between a rock and soft spot, (Pillay is soft on communists), Minister Pillay while in Cuba, declared that the US Blockade against Cuba must stop. Never mind all the archives in the Kremlin which reveal today, Fidel Castro in 1963 was intending on launching Nuclear Missiles to target the United States as a pre-emptive strike, against the United States during the Cold War.

USSR begged him to not do it.

All in all, the embargo will soon end. But it will not be because Minister Pillay called for it to end. In fact when he came back home, he was completely silent about it, just in case we loose our mortuary in Praslin built by the United States.

If you despise the United States don’t cower over it; just say it to their face when you meet the next Ambassador, they will respect you for it! It’s a Cowboy thing you know!
