This year’s ‘Creole Festival’ will go down as the worst ever in its long history. This is not just criticism for the sake of it. It is a reality check and the organizers must take notice and listen to reason, the ostrich approach will cause further damage to the reputation of what had become a popular event in our calendar. The festival just did not live up to expectation. If it is organized well, in a professional manner, it will contribute in bringing in more visitors to the islands at this time, October, every year. We will not go into details in our criticisms of the event because we want to remain positive and help make it better.
The organizers, Mrs Sylvette Pool and co should consider proposing to government in making it a two year event instead of a yearly. It will help greatly in improving the quality of the various proceedings and, with the luxury of having more time will come hopefully professionalism, and quality will set in for the long term good of the event. The organizers will have a bigger budget to work with - everything and everyone will be better for it. And the ladies championing this cause will swell in its glorification.
