THE PIPELINE THE DEFINITION OF MADNESS!

SOMEONE once said that the definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting a different result. Applying the same definition to the SPPF government, one can logically conclude that the government is mad!  When the SPPF was perennially in opposition and the Democratic Party was in government the SPPF never missed an opportunity to tell everybody who cared to listen that they can run the country better than DP. After losing elections after elections they took arms to overthrow a legitimate democratically elected government of which they formed part. After inheriting a vibrant and healthy economy with plenty of foreign exchange to go around it took them a mere 15 years to destroy everything which had taken years of hard work and labour to build and nurture.

Their biggest failure to date has been the economic catastrophe they have unleashed on the populace. The SPPF's economic record is dismal, to say the least, and contains all the trademark lesson of how not to run an economy. In fact, if one wants a healthy and prosperous economy simply do the exact opposite of what the SPPF has done over the years and one would be guaranteed the opposite results. Instead of economic failure one will be blessed with economic success! This, unfortunately can only be implemented by the Opposition in government. The SPPF has the knack of trying something which they have tried already, and failed twice in a row to convince themselves that it should work. Except that they do it exactly the same way they did it first time around but expect a different result this time.

Look at the pipeline at the Central Bank for instance. After dismally failing for the first time under Rene to address the foreign exchange crisis, it was revived by President Michel only to give the same result-failure! As long as the SPPF remains in government Seychelles will continue to get the same result-perpetual failure. It is time for fresh impetus, new ideas and renewed resolve to turn the country's fortune or misfortune (depending how you look at it) around.
