TWO MORE INCIDENTS OF THEFT OR ATTEMPTED ON PRASLIN RECENTLY

This is no time to stick our heads in the sand”, stated an hotelier on Praslin. The Hotel Association must push for more police officers to be stationed there. A reasonable request would be to increase the amount of men to 50 additional.

Two weeks ago, at night, the security guard at a small establishment on Praslin spotted a medium built young black male walking within the hotel parameter at 8. 45pm.  The guard flashed him with his torch; he turned around and ran back into the woods across the street. Guard called others and a search party of 4 men looked for the man. He ran into the woods and up to Anse La Blague. They found across the street a bicycle with valid registration and a large carton box next to the bike. According to the search party they had just walked in the area at about 6.30pm and had found nothing at the spot.

The bike was turned in to the Police for them to trace the Owner. However, it is believed that a certain gentleman (DL) known to the police was spotted on the same bike one day prior to the incident.

In a second incident from MCB Grand Anse, members of the public observed Christopher Volcere break out of the jail and take run with a Police Officer running after him. He broke out from prying the ceiling of the Police Station. The Police Officer was given a lift about 10 mins later at Beach Villa and back to the Station. He was beaten up a bit and uniform ripped up a bit. Voclere was out on the loose at this moment.

It might be a good time to call in some reinforcement for Praslin.  Hoteliers on Praslin are complaining that they are being overrun by the criminals. Someone observed while at the Police Station recently for about 30 mins - he was shocked at the amount of activity the police officers were dealing with for a station on such a small island. It looks as if it was a station in central Chicago. Praslin needs reinforcement before it is too late!
