The 6th International Festival of Classical Music Postponed

THE 6th International Festival of Classical Music has been re-scheduled for next year due to the closing down of their resident hotel, the Plantation Resort. The professional corps, their paying Choristers and Friends of the Festival, is truly disappointed. This announcement has come about after 15 long months of intensive preparation. The new dates are: Tuesday, 26th May to Friday, 5th June 2009

The organizers are now more determined to work harder to achieve a greater success next year. Furthermore, they are putting together a very comprehensive educational package in support of the School of Music and the growth of classical music appreciation in Seychelles. 2008 is a new stage in the development of the festival organisation. A new London-based advisory committee, including a resident composer; Owen Bourne, has been put in place. Its first assignment is to organise a festival promotion and charity concert at Cadogan Hall, Chelsea, in October.

The objective is to galvanise the support of the rank and file of the Seychelles Interfest Symphony Orchestra (60 strong), solo artists and the London Lloyd's Choir, which Marc Sabadin is a member. Two young and talented music directors have been appointed, Benjamin Ellin and Jacques Cohen, to shape the 2009 event and beyond. The charity fund raised will go towards equipping the School of Music with plenty of choral and instrumental scores so that the students can become more proficient.

The Festival Directors, Mr. Marc Sabadin and Mr. James Sabadin, send their apologies to all their groupies and supporters for the cancellation of the festival this year.
