SMB Wants Us To Believe That Night Is Day And That Day Is Night

Over the past week Mr. Patrick Vel the director of SMB very bravely announced that his organization is about to revise the price of commodities that they sell.  According to him this was in line with the current economic situation of our country.  Taking Seychellois as being very stupid and as a population with short memory he went further to state that SMB was not making a profit on most items because the selling prices was lower than the prices at which they were buying it. He must really think we are stupid. The revision of prices is supposed to be done every three months.

Mr. Director please enlighten our people by giving us a list of commodities that your company is making a loss on and also provide us with names of the suppliers so that we can conduct our own investigation to authenticate your statement.

On our part, Le Nouveau Seychelles Weekly wants to shed some light upon this matter so that our readers gets a clear picture of what is really going on behind the activities of  SMB. The Seychelles Marketing Board (SMB) has over the past months been going through a Dubai based company under the name of Strait Trading Pty Ltd for most of its transactions. According to yet to be confirmed information, this company has been advised to mark up 15% on all invoices that comes from the different suppliers.  With this mark up, you don’t have to be so intelligent to know that the prices will obviously touch the sky. Can someone at the SMB or in government please clarify for the consumers what is really going on and who is benefiting from these transactions? It is certainly not the buying public….
