THE RISING SUN GOING AFTER DR GOVINDEN

The Rising SUn newspaper. The Rising Sun has turned an incident involving Dr. Govinden at the airport last year into their ‘cause celèbre’. Dr. Govinden is a respected member of the community who made a silly mistake, everyone is entitle to a mistake. What he did cost nobody his life or lose the country an exorbitant amount of money. The authority decided not to pursue the matter. The reason behind the vendetta against the good doctor it seems has more to it than just the incident at the airport.

The Rising Sun, we believe, has bitten more than they can chew as far as the article, “Our Right To Answer”, in their issue for Monday January 14, 2008. In the article The Rising Sun wrote, “We used to believe No One Is Above the Law in Seychelles but this case seems to be one which has proven that some people are indeed above the Law. Can you image if tomorrow, someone in a top position in Seychelles was to rape a minor or caught trafficking drugs and he or she was allowed to carry on with his or her life unpunished, enjoying the same privileges as if nothing had happened, how many of us would be so forgiving?”

Well, well, well!! The Rising Sun must be having a laugh. There are surely bigger fish to fry much bigger than Dr. Govinden - why is The Rising Sun not going after them? $4.5 million dollars of the people’s money was given to a bogus company in Dubai not so long ago. The Rising Sun would do well to investigate this story. We will not dwell further on this particular matter except to suggest that The Rising Sun and Dr. Ramadoss to leave Dr. Govinden in peace.
