Mr. Guyteau Louis-Marie, the much hated police informer, is being detained at the Mt. Posee Prison. Two weeks ago the infamous Louis-Marie was sentenced to three months imprisonment for obtaining money by false pretence, by the local Magistrate Court in Victoria. Louis- Marie, a reputed criminal, will serve out his sentence at the Mt.Posee prison under great threat from other inmates he helped framed. The Mt. Posee Prison is famous for brutalizing inmates. However, the general consensus on the streets is that Louis-Marie has already been guaranteed protection during his incarceration at Mt. Posee by powerful people in the police force. Louis-Marie, a prolific and convincing liar, is well known for acting as “agent provocateur” for the police in inducing people to commit crimes which they would otherwise not commit. He is suspected of setting up and framing several innocent people. Last tear he played a pivotal role in framing a taxi driver and his partner in a house at Anse Aux Pins by posing as a customer wanting to buy drugs. The police then pounced and arrested the unsuspecting victims. The couple is protesting that the drugs were planted by Louis-Marie himself. Louis-Marie, a “bon vivant” by nature, is also known to have boasted on at least one occasion in Victoria, at the Barrel Discotheque, that he was receiving money from the police to act as an informant. Apparently he bought three bottles of Whisky that night and shared it with the security guards at the Barrel Bar and other by-standers. He showed off his bundles of one hundred rupee notes before disappearing in a taxi ‘pirate’.
Louis–Marie had served some time in prison previously for stabbing a man. After his release he devised an ingenious plan to con people out of their hard earned cash by exploiting the foreign exchange shortage to his advantage. He is known to have preyed on several well known businessmen in the country by pretending that he can provide them with large amount of foreign exchange at reasonable rate. The unsuspecting victim then entrust him with hundreds of thousands of rupees which he then use to have a great time in hotels and discotheques. Since the transaction is illegal and might land the victim in hot water with the police, they suffer in silence without reporting the matter. In one incident, he is known to have purchased a car with cash that he had obtained under false pretence. It is believed that it is one such case that has brought the prison sentence on Louis-Marie.
