Dear Sir,
Referring to an article published recently in your publication on violence on the public by police officers, I would like to thank you so much for making the Seychellois aware of what really goes on in this small country.
Therefore, I am bringing to your attention for publication of another situation, which you missed to bring out in your fight against human rights abuse in this country. That one Aubrey Petrousse was also with Raymond Dubel. Their mission is only to teach people a lesson send by their superior. As I am a concerned police officer, these two officers are quite famous for always being tolerated for their destructive behaviour. A few weeks back another attempted murder was about to occur by Petrousse and Dubel at upper Glacis. During the month of October many incidents occurred whereby civilian has been beaten especially by Petrousse and no report or disciplinary measures have been taken. Is it the authority that is protecting these officers for reason of their affiliation in certain matters? I’m pretty sure that if violence from our police officers continues in the near future then this means that the commissioner of police has failed his mission.
However when we refer back two years ago after he and his team were sent by the state house to kill Robin Henriette deliberately. Nobody knows how many government senior officials were linked with the attempt to kill Henriette just because he had either stolen precious or valuable stuffs from these people especially for causing embarrassment to the President for robbing his Chinese friend at the Ste Anne resort. I think it is thankful to you that our public today shall know who we should be careful of amongst our officers.
Please sir, make it for the public to be aware by whom we are being targeted. Thanking you for all your hard work in making the Seychellois people aware of what really goes on.
Yours sincerely

Dear Mr. Volcere – I need to tell you straight out that I am not a DP supporter, but over the last two years I have become attached to Le Nouveau
When I got the news that the Weekly will not be coming out because Mr. Mancienne said that you should not criticize his party or colleagues I nearly blew a gasket. In the last two weeks my wife and I are already missing the Weekly, it’s like a dead in the family, and something is missing. I wish you well in your endeavor to get Weekly out on the stands again. Your devotion and courage is not going unnoticed – if you do not already know I will tell you the Weekly is a popular newspaper and loved by most. We look forward to seeing the Weekly back again in our home soon.
Yours Sincerely
N. Laporte

Sir – I am an SNP surporter. Wavel was in Praslin on Sat. to meet with disgruntled hard core base. He told supporters including me that he has opened dialogue with SPPF to take care of his people and get them what they want. Says he is not in bed with SPPF.
The irony of this stance he is taking is that we the supporters never asked him to open dialogue with SPPF in this manner. He has done that all by himself and his supporters seem to be a second thought after the fact.
In Anse Kerlan, key supporters have greeted the position with suspicion. We don’t like the way he has treated DP, Mr. Frank Elizabeth and Le Nouveau
Regards, (An SNP)
Dear Mr. Editor,
Please allow me some space in your esteemed newspaper to commend the content of the articles in your past editions. I must say that the ideas being advanced are truly what our young democracy deserves! Especially in these times of economic hardships, where we are seeing our country being sold off & the fabric of our society being torn apart by evils; that have been allowed to propagate. It is high time that the real Seychellois stood up to this system that is ‘systematically’ running our country into the ground…
The investigative journalism nature of your ever popular ‘Weekly’, is a guiding light in our fight for justice, human rights, freedom of the press, democracy and above all helping government to enforce our constitution by giving its citizens their appropriate rights and protection of all forms… It is indeed a lighting rod in the face of our ‘leaders’ who are taking us into this dark tunnel of a devalued economy that is turning us poorer (and blinder if you are a ‘lapire’ sipper!) by the day. They really have a fight for survival on their hands! The recent articles on drugs and alcohol abuse, physical violence and brutality by the police & armed forces; have managed to spark government & the infamous leader of the opposition into action. By the way, wasn’t it ironic to see Ramkalawan attending the parade of the same forces that beat him on the head! Plus ça change….!
I also commend Troukler’s approach with the “week in review” as things are changing at such a fast pace in this age of technology. It is interesting to see how Michel’s propaganda machine is in overdrive to try and build a statesman out of a rigid ‘Zonm Lib’ of ‘Liberation Days’! Digital photos and TV footage are sent in almost virtual time to the local ‘trumpet media’ (now they have two dailies with Ramadoss’s junk) in an effort to ‘prop up the man’. Some believe that the power of all this digital technology can beat the written press… the pen is always mightier than the sword! Their own paper the ‘Nation’ of 12 years ago fed us a bunch of lies when Michel was Finance and Communications Minister. ‘Quelle Vacherie!’ de la part de Ti-Frans!
I am sure they will find ways to ‘muzzle’ this beacon of hope for change (your {our} newspaper). But do not despair. I am certain that we can find a way to keep this flame alive, if we have to get our own printing press, I am sure your readers will be delighted to go into this business as ‘shareholders’. Such a business venture that can also take on a good slice of the advertising and publishing market locally - Not a bad proposition huh (just an idea!).
Thanks for publishing my lament on our bankrupt system and keep the flame burning brightly ever…Putting Seychellois First!
Sincerely yours,
Degiyin (Dalon Troukler)
Dear Mr. Volcere,
It has not been a long time since I have started to read your weekly publication and have become interested by the way you publish information for everyone to know what is going on in this country. I congratulate you for such courage and determination in your difficult battle but I believe that one day your goals will be fruitful, like proverb says “better late than never”.
As a concerned parent of my child’s future in sport, especially cycling. I today realize that I also must feed you with information that the public need to be informed of for analysis.
Cycling for my child and I was only a temporary activity only to have fun until the NSC decided to call a group of 32 athletes on the 7th of July 2006, under the scheme of Seychelles Youth Sports Academy. Coaches were asked and forced into the program. It was the President of the Republic himself who launched the program. (See
On the 9th July my child started training and sometimes they trained two times a day for six days a week. I recalled at certain times training started at four in the morning and he woke up at 3 am to get prepared. In the evening he would reach home after 7 pm because the coach had an ambitious program, one of the rare people who put all into his task whom I appreciate for his ability and motivation. My child who believes that one day he will be turned into a champion ignores totally his education although he kept on studying. He could not help with the household work which I accepted because he was more or less tired and needed lots of sleep. The academy had asked the parents not to load the athletes with household work for them to have good recuperation and parent to contribute on this part.
The Academy has been close for a while but according to my son, I understand the Seychelles Cycling Association’s (SCA) coach was running the program and giving training in his own way with his own funds. Lately as we have all read, SCA had been going through some very difficult problem and it was only last month that we learned the truth in the Regar publication that NSC has deducted over 58 thousands rupees from the yearly budget and to make matters worse not even assisting the trainees with transports or fuel which is so sad. Until today the academy had not been reopened and the coach had decided to stop the road training program. This problem is getting from bad to worse and I asked myself when will the President of the Republic intervene and hear the crying of the boys who now only gather themselves at the side of the road, especially at Deepam Cinema. Mr. President was your words towards the youth only political propaganda or are you serious?
Today we see that the NSC has called for some changes and has included a CEO in their structure. I am sorry to say but I believe that many in the NSC’s Senior Management are lacking in the knowledge of sports especially the administrators who are only working for their salaries and self interest. Many people complain about the abilities of the NSC Senior Management. Many federations suffer under the bad management of NSC who has a habit of freezing programs. It is time that the President recommends people who are serious, experience and knows of the federation’s needs in specific domain.
Mr. Volcere, please I have faith in your intelligence and I believed that you are an editor who has the ability to change the cyclist situation. Maybe it is time for someone to question the Minister for Sports in the Assembly on this subject.
Because of corruption in the government system our children keeps on suffering. I will make this information known to you in due course for the time being all what I have informed you are true because I did my research. I will wait and see how the information is published by your publication. I have much information in many other fields that you will receive from me in the near future.Thanking you. (name withheld)
Editor’s comment: Any information, which can help improve the general situation and is in the best interest of our athletes is welcome and will be published.
