The European director of the World Beauty Organisation, Mr. Detlef Tursies, made the announcement during a press conference on Monday 3rd September that Le Meridien Barbarons Hotel will host the event on the 13th October this year.
Other people present at the announcement were representatives of Le Meridien & Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Mr. Maurice Loustau-Lalanne chief executive officer of the Seychelles Tourist Board (STB); Maldivian entrepreneur Ahmed Didi of Universal Enterprise and the rose amongst the thorns, so to speak, lovely Ms Suzy Pierre who is acting as the country manager handling the logistics side of the international beauty pageant in Seychelles.
In total fifty contestants are expected to participate spending a week here doing photo shoots and filming in their respective national costumes.
Mr. Detlef Tursies stated that, “The natural beauty and environment of the Seychelles has convince us to host this international pageant here as this event will be broadcast worldwide and will generate more interest in Seychelles.” For his part Mr. Loustau-Lalanne said, “From tourism prospective such an international event to our shores with worldwide telecast, this is bound to add value to our tourism goals and objectives.”
Le Meridien Fisherman’s Cove is also organising a raffle as part of the activities to go with the Miss Intercontinental beauty pageant. The winners will be given stays in Le Meridien’s hotels all over the World as their prizes. The last Seychellois participant in the Miss Intercontinental held in the
