Danny Faure the greatest magician since Harry Houdini!

The duty of any government anywhere in the world is to make the lives of its citizens better not worse. The quality of life for the entire population of Seychelles should now be superior to what it was thirty-one years ago, but it is unfortunately not. President Michel prides himself on the number of mobile phones, television sets, DVD players and computers in the country as if these were invented by the SPPF.  This SPPF Government with President Michel in power and Mr. Rene before him, have, between them, managed the welfare of the people of this country for the last thirty-one years. When you consider the amount of money contributed into the state coffers by the working population over this period, it is clear that the people have not had value for the money they have invested in the SPPF Government.

A pussy without any fur is still a cat

The Health Service despite all the talking and funds budgeted towards the improvement of service in our hospitals and clinics, changes are negligible with the same lingering problems year in year out! The Education System is no different. Political interference makes it impossible for the teachers to apply themselves in the manner they would have liked in educating our children. The SPPF Government has failed in almost every department but they are still not telling the people the truth. President Michel said loud and clear for all to hear that he will never allow the Seychelles Rupee to be devalued. Devaluation is here in full force. This week the UK Pound was selling at SR14 at the Commercial Banks. The only people oblivious to this situation it seems are Michel, Faure and Chang-Leng. They refuse to call a cat a cat. They are insisting on calling it “readjustment” of the Seychelles Rupee. You can call a cat a pussy until you go blue in the face it will still purr and remains a hairy pussy. A pussy without any fur is still a cat.

A chicken in a lake is not a duck it is a dead hen

People are being sacked left right and centre from all corners of government. Yet President Michel sends his Ministers on SBC TV to talk about “restructuring”. A chicken in a lake is not a duck it is a dead hen. The fact that it is surrounded by water does not change anything. The price of fuel has now gone up again. The last time it went up was when they introduced GST as the solution to all our problems (MERP).  The jury has return a verdict of total futility on MERP. The architects behind the Macro Economic Reform Program have all gone in hiding whilst we the people are left to pick up the pieces. And as far as the increase in the price of fuel is concerned the Seychelles Nation refuses to call it that. In a small corner on its front page, Monday 3rd September, 2007, it ran an article shamelessly under the banner “Fuel Price Change”.

The SBC and the Seychelles Nation are showing their true colours by choosing carefully manufacture terminology in reporting bad news for the government. Afif and Silla must be a match made in hell! The SBC and Nation are there to defend the President and his cabinet of ministers rather than to protect the interest of the people paying for their very existence.

This is the greatest act since the great Houdini and it is happening right here in Paradise with our very own President, Minister of Finance and Governor of the Central Bank in the thick of it all. Who was it who said paradise was boring? Not this paradise, matey! “TENIR PA PLENYEN!” is the new buzz phrase around Victoria…..
