A Government With No Plan

Sir - In small business strategy there is a term called the “three-year hurdle”.  This is the time frame, the risk period you have to invest in to make the business profitable.  It is the period after which the entrepreneur can safely rely upon to begin making a sustainable income from the business venture.  Numerous small business incentives set-up by government through SIDEC, YES, amongst many others have failed because of no proper follow-up. It is this fact that shows the hypocrisy behind this Government’s actions -.  Actions with no concrete plans.  They are short term, fly-by-night planning that shows a lack of sincerity in the SPPF hierarchy’s words.  Any government, worth its salt, would have in place a strategy to support this.  The only strategy for the SPPF is to stay in power and gather around people who will sell their souls for them to stay in power.  The SPPF Government and their “4 D Luv of C-Sel” crew are “bottom of the table Sunday League” amateurs when it comes to promoting small businesses.  How can Seychelles have a future with such planning?

Thank you for the space.

Jess

There Is Oil, There Is No Oil – But There Are Taxes To Pay!!!

Dear Editor - James “Judge Me By My Actions” Michel sent his pawns on television to say that very soon there will be oil in Seychelles.  Then Danny Faure comes on television to say that because we do not have oil, the price of oil must increase by taxes.  Remember they are both from the SPPF therefore whom do you believe?  Look around you who will be feeling the hardship of taxes?  It will not be those SPPF people receiving 2 or 3 salaries for sitting in the Assembly saying nothing and doing nothing.  It will not be those Ministers and their hangers-on who have lunch at 5 Star Hotels everyday.  It will not be those foreign doctors who come to Seychelles dirt poor and now own all the casinos and do not pay any taxes.  No it is only those people who are not “Top-part SPPF” who will feel the burden of oil and diesel increases.  Jj -Thank you for your vision of putting more money into Seychellois’ pockets.

SPPF Says Curb Consumption

Sir - Like all Seychellois, I listened attentively to what Minister Faure had to say about Fuel and the new SPPF policy to now “Curb Consumption of Fuel”. SPPF Government has roughly doubled the price of Fuel on us over night. No warning to us except a one week notice by Mr. Guy Adam that if prices are not raised, we will COLLAPSE. Well, prices have been raised and Mr. Adam’s wish has come true and he jetted off on holiday in the California sunshine. In spite of that, that real possibility of a collapse is still hanging over our heads. It has not gone. It is still there. I am most certain Mr. Adam knows rising prices will not solve his problems. They raised a litre of fuel to Rupees 10.00 per litre; you will still need $60 Million for your Fuel bills every year. The Minister of course misunderstood that.

Thank you!
