Sipay appoints new editorial committee
The Sipay poetry magazine will continue to promote unknown poets by publishing them alongside recognised ones, its director of publication Maggie Faure Vidot has said.
She made the declaration after a new editorial committee was appointed to better carry out administrative tasks and promotion of the magazine.
Other than Ms Vidot, the committee is made up of Fabien Le Dizes (international director/correspondent), Marie Clarisse (secretary), Stephanie Joubert (treasurer), Andrea Mounac (printing and publication), Jude Ally (illustration), Reuban Lespoir (sales and distribution) and Roland Duval (media).
Apart from promoting our national languages, Sipay also promotes poetry exchanges between local and international poets, helps young and unknown poets to gain recognition and also ensures that the copyright of the poems remains the property of the poets.
Anyone who wishes to be involved with Sipay will be called friends of the magazine, and all donations and ideas are welcomed.
The second edition was released in July under the theme La Liberté and features works of local poets such as James Mancham, Stephanie Joubert, Jude Ally and Marie Clarisse among others. It also includes work by foreign poets such as Harris Kasongo from the Republic of Congo, Patrick Joquel of France and Patricia Laranco of Mauritius.
The magazine costs R50.
An initiative of Fabien Le Dizes, Sipay is a non-profitmaking project and the funds collected are used to ensure its continuation.
It gets extra support from the French embassy, l’Alliance Française des Seychelles, the National Arts Council, Minister Vincent Meriton, the Seychelles Bureau of Standards, JD’s Boutique and Sheila Shop, Anse Boileau.
Meanwhile Sipay – in collaboration with the Seychelles Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA) reminds all those taking part in the adult category of the poetry competition to commemorate Animal Week – October 2-10 – that the deadline to submit entries is Tuesday September 29. Entries can be sent to SSPCA, PO Box 596, Victoria, or can be handed in at the society at Union Vale personally.
