We do not know who this message was directed to, however what was clear in his interview with the SBC after receiving a Doctor of Divinity degree, is that Marray was targeting one or several politicians with his comment. Bishop Santosh Marray must be commended for his frankness and courage. Bishop Marray has been in this country long enough to know exactly what he was talking about. Bishop Marray said that people who want to lead must get an education, “especially politicians”, he said. “How is one expected to lead the educated if he himself is not educated?” He added.
What Marray said made perfect sense as many of our politicians, even from higher offices, are not properly educated. This is partly why our country is in such a mess. Marray’s comments were broadcasted during the 8 “O” clock news on Sunday 31 August. “We will lose our intellectuals and professionals to overseas countries”, he said. This publication would like to commend Bishop Marray for being forthright and truthful. It will go a long way in making Seychelles a better country for all of us and we hope that the French Ambassador could be equally blunt in his dealings with the local authority or is it wishful thinking?
