SNP President, Wavel Ramkalawan, has been hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit of Victoria hospital after he was brutally attacked and beaten up by the para-military unit of the police while he was adressing his supporters following a vote in the National Assembly to deny the granting of a license to political parties for the operation of a radio station. Another leading member of the opposition, Jean-François Ferrari, has also been admitted to the hospital with head and neck wounds. Opposition M.P. Julie suffered a broken arm and several other members of the National Assembly were badly beaten up by the para-mlitary police. Party Secretary, Roger Mancienne, is reported to have been arrested and is in custody. The para-military unit attacked opposition supporters with tear gas, batons and rubber bullets.
