Different verses of the same song

The recent inquiry over the "October 3, 2007" currently seems to be a new verse in an old song.  This inquiry is to investigate events surrounding the beating of elected members of the National Assembly by SPPF Government forces.  The SPPF Government has recently called for National Assembly elections.  The role of the paramilitary police (SSU) and ‘State Security’ will be closely watched to see if the leopard can change its spots.  In the past the paramilitary police and the ‘State Security’ have been used to help win political battles.
The SPPF’s political battles have, over the past years, developed some characteristics that now threaten the principles of the Constitution: notably, the use of the legal and security apparatus to intimidate or neutralize opponents and to insulate allies -- often coupled with national media manipulation in the course of such battles.  In the course of the last Presidential elections many opposition supporters were beaten-up.  Labeling everyone beaten-up as hooligans does not exonerate the actions of the paramilitary and the killers based at State House.  What it does is show the true nature of the SPPF.

Such underhanded tactics also point to a more sinister motive:  the SPPF’s utmost desire is to cling on to power.  This is to be done at all costs.  Beyond the political platform the use of housing assistance, education scholarships, means-testing for Social Security assistance, business licenses and employment contracts have all become part and parcel of the political strategy.  In return for receiving what should rightfully be given by law, now becomes a politically bestowed favor.  If you are a member of the SPPF, the SPPF will be good to you.  The consequences of not being a member and supporter of the SPPF are the extreme reverse.  In such a climate, where do the principles of the rule of law, accountability, good governance, responsibility and transparency lie?

Many people know and dislike the SPPF’s dictatorial behavior, and loathe its struggles and deceptions. But, at the same time, they fear the SPPF’s political movement and the resulting turmoil, and fear chaos will visit Seychelles again. Thus, once the SPPF threatens people with “turmoil,” people fall into silent acceptance of the SPPF’s rule and feel helpless in the face of the SPPF’s despotic power.  Examples abound in the political newsletters “The People” and “People Plus” where venomous attacks are printed on people known not to support the SPPF.

In reality, with its hundreds of troops and armed police, the SPPF is the real source of turmoil. Ordinary citizens have neither the cause nor the capability to initiate turmoil. Only the regressive SPPF would be so reckless as to bring the country into turmoil at any hint of change. “Stability overrides everything else” and “Nipping the buds of all unstable elements”—these slogans have become the theoretical basis for the SPPF to suppress people. Who is the biggest cause of instability in Seychelles? Is it not the SPPF, who specializes in tyranny? The SPPF instigates turmoil, and then in turn uses the chaos it created to coerce the people. This is a common action of all villains.

In other countries depending on the gravity of the inquiry, the individuals involved would be relieved of their duties, but, in Seychelles things are done differently.  An inquiry is opened, drags its feet and then peter’s out. Again, in Seychelles “Wrongdoing is only in the eyes of the beholder”.  Any attempt to root-out drug barons, corrupt high-ranking civil servants and members of the national assembly is seen by the SPPF as threatening the much flaunted social peace and stability thus prolonging the status quo.

Hi Troukler,

Item- Explosives found in delivery package on Silhouette Island “La Briz”

 Source: STB official.

The package was a birthday cake sent to a worker on the island. Inside the cake under frosting that melts, was a plastic bag with explosives Petar Ton and a message” blow communications room”.

Sihlouette La Briz which employs 75% expats at the hotel has had a number of riot incidences involving Staff. Theft out of control. Personnel Manager, Valarie Bresson, just resigned. Catch her for an interiew and tourism “tell all”.  Main recruits come from Mauritius and Nepal.

La Briz example highlights everything that is wrong with SPPF progam for development in Seychelles.

 Best Regards,

 Klare!
