Dirty Tricks with Senior Citizens as Pawns at the Fiennes Institute!

Le Nouveau Seychelles Weekly has been alerted to a campaign of vote-rigging being prepared by the SPPF in the Glacis Electoral District.  This is through the use of Senior Citizens at the Old Peoples Home in North-East Point.  The Nurse in Charge, Mrs Raymond Clarisse, has demonstrated through an appearance in the PPB of the SPPF’s candidate for Mont Fleuri that she will not be impartial in assisting the elderly cast their votes at the Fiennes Institute on the 10th May, 2007. As part of the plot, residences of the Old Peoples home are being groomed on how to vote by two SPPF nurses of the home.  This vote grooming is in favour of the SPPF’s candidate for Glacis. They are determined to rob Regina Alcindor the SNP/DP candidate for Glacis of victory.

The plan is that on polling day, due for the 10th May, next Thursday - the same two nurses will attend to the residents requiring assistance to vote and in doing so it will remind them (residents) of the training they have had over the past few weeks. It is said that an SPPF friendly electoral officer is also being selected especially for the Fiennes Institute.

This is a serious matter that should be taken up with the office of the Electoral Commissioner before polling day.

Furthermore the person appointed to be the Electoral Officer for Beau Vallon, Mr. Eric Arnephy has also seriously compromised his impartiality. How  can Colin Dyer expect to get a fair running in the polling station on the 12th May, when the man chosen to run that particular station has in his front garden a publicity poster of the SPPF candidate? If Mr. Arnephy did not have the courage to say no to Wingate Mondon & co because he feared for his position in the civil service, he should do the next best thing and resign his position as an Electoral Officer altogether. That would be the most honourable thing to do.
