Seychelles today; Is there a tomorrow?
In 1977 the SPUP/SPPF made the decision of being self-appointed rulers in the Seychelles. This issue of the underlying causes of wresting power from the ballot box is at the core of the current status of affairs in our Island Nation. This saw the dismantling of an administration apparatus that was grounded in the respect of law and order and its replacement by one of violence, tyranny and dictatorship. The term of liberation is not reflected within these circumstances. It abysmally falls far of this definition.
Rather than lay the framework for continued and sustainable socio-economic development, the current climate in the Seychelles is one of division and tension. Basic freedoms charted by the SPUP/SPPF Leaders during their early political years can be a yardstick of the disaster we face today.
