OUR MAN IN THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

Frank Elizabeth, chosen by DP as member of the National Assembly for the Opposition.

The Seychelles Democratic Party has unanimously nominated Mr. Frank Elizabeth as its candidate in the National Assembly. The Seychelles National Party has accepted the nomination and has duly appointed Mr. Elizabeth as its fourth proportionately elected member from the Democratic Party in accordance with the terms of the Electoral Agreement between the two parties. Mr. Elizabeth is 39 years old and is a London trained Barrister. He commenced his studies in the United Kingdom after he won a British Council Scholarship. Later he was appointed Notary Public by the then President of the Republic, Mr. France Albert Rene. He has been practicing law in Seychelles for the past 13 years. He studied law in London where he was called to the Bar in November 1993. He is a member of Lincoln’s Inn, London and worked at the Attorney General’s Office after completing his studies in the UK

He attended Cambridge>University in England for further studies after winning a scholarship in September 1995. He studied at the Research Centre for International Law at Cambridge specializing in the law of the sea. From England he went to the United States where he worked at the United Nations Law of the Sea Department in Manhattan New York . Upon his return to Seychelles, Mr. Elizabeth worked again at the Attorney General’s Office before venturing in the private sector to set up his own Law Chambers.

He joined Mr. Antony Derjacques some time later and they formed a formidable Chamber known as Derjacques & Elizabeth when Mr. Derjacques was nominated to go to the National Assembly as a proportionately elected member for the Seychelles National Party. Mr. Elizabeth decided to set up his own practice again after Mr. Derjacques was rotated by his party in the Assembly. He has been practicing as a Barrister, Attorney and Notary Public for many years now. The Seychelles Democratic Party has stated that their strategy in the National Assembly would be to introduce Bills which would benefit all Seychellois irrespective of political affiliation rather than motions which are normally ignored by the government even when unanimously approved by the Assembly. It is for this reason that Mr. Elizabeth has been chosen as it is felt that he is suited for the specific task at hand. The Seychelles Democratic Party wishes him well and is convinced that he will live up to the very high expectation of the people of Seychelles
