Dilapidated Independence House In Desperate Need of Repairs

Waiting room with SPPF pamphlets on table.

Is it a coincidence or mere poetic justice that the state of the waiting room at the Survey Section of the Ministry of Land Use and Habitat is the way it is?  Upon entering one is greeted with a couple of worn out chairs and a shoddy table laden with pamphlets, showing a triumphant President Michel hugging his Chinese counterpart.

Members of the public have been complaining of the interior of this section for some time.  The state of the furniture gives further meaning to the pamphlets when one’s gaze rises to the ceilings.  One will find on looking at the ceilings the reasons for the disapearance of USD 4.5 million to a bogus construction company from Dubai.  Water soiled ceiling boards, electrical cabling hanging loose with rain water coming through, unprotected tube lights, missing ceiling boards are all to be found.

This state of affairs seeps through out the whole building.  It is only a question of time before a tragedy similar to the Foreign Affairs Building happens. The big shots and their sycophants within the Ministry are well kept in comfortable offices whilst the others labour away in appalling conditions.

Furthermore, although a PSO (Public Service Order) has been in circulation for sometime, banning the display and use of political paraphelia in the Civil Service.  The same has not made its way to the faithful civil servants in the Ministry of Land Use and Habitat.  Conversely, from the hugs and smiles that adorn the table, Minister Morgan and his P.S. Patrick Lablache can safely rest assured that Jj is proud of you!!!
