THIS STRANGE BEAST DOES NOT EXIST!

FOR SALE

Jeep Toyota Hilux Surf, S14125, capacity 2400cc, diesel engine, full options, 4-wheel drive, accommodates 10 passengers. Serious buyers call 582582 during working hours or 266905 after working hours.

Spotted again in the classified advert section of the Seychelles Nation, Thursday, March 8th, 2007, a vehicle with matching descriptions of the one featured in this column last week. Apparently the 110 passenger vehicle advertised in the Seychelles Nation last week does not exist, even in the islands of the big boys. It was the Seychelles Nation which, made the error by multiplying the seating capacity by 11. When asked to explain the reason behind this exaggeration a spokeperson from the ‘Nation’ confirmed that they love exaggerating especially when it comes to making this Government look better than what it really is. “We cannot do anything else, but to praise our pay masters, they are forever reminding us of where our loyalty should be - orders are barked down to us through a direct telephone line from State House, by a fellow with the same name as a former President,” the spokesperson commented.

SBC AND SEYCHELLES NATION GIVE HAMMER BLOW TO SHOT PUTT!!

In the “Magazin Spor” aired on 6th. March by SBC, reference was made in Creole to the sport of shot putt as “marto”. The French term for shot putt is “poid” whilst, the Hammer another Olympic sport, which is a completely different sports discipline from the shot putt is known as “le marteau” in French.  Troukler waits as to how the SBC sports section will hammer out the Creole term for the sport of Hammer or in French “le marteau”! Meanwhile the Seychelles Nation will have to deal with its own confusion as Miss Helda Marie is now totally confused as to what sports discipline she was taking part in, last weekend, when she broke a record.

The “Good Life” of the Governor of the Central Bank of Seychelles

Central Bank Governor, Francis Chang-Leng and his son Pascal, both longstanding supporters of Liverpool Football Club since 1973 were in Anfield to watch the match between Liverpool v/s Manchester United on Saturday 3rd March 2007.  While in UK they stayed at the 5 star Meridien Piccadilly near Piccadilly Circus.  They spent enough time in UK, it appears, for them to watch the return match on Thursday 6th March 2007 between Liverpool and Barcelona.

It is believed that whilst in London the Governor came across some Seychellois who inquired about the foreign exchange shortages in Seychelles. “What foreign exchange problem are you talking about?” The Governor exclaimed. “Where I work there is plenty of the stuff , I get to play with the Euro notes, dollars and pounds sterling. The only thing I am not allowed to do is give it to the man in the streets.” He apparently added.
