WHEN WEEKLY SPEAKS, PRESIDENT MICHEL LISTENS!

Last week Le Nouveau Seychelles Weekly broke a front page story about the fact that Secondary School students are yet to receive their allowance despite promises made in his budget speech last year by President James Michel. Nation, the daily newspaper, tried to re-assure the public that the students will be paid in two short articles in consecutive issues this week although the students insist that they still have not been paid.

Weekly also run a story about public lights at the taxi stand which was non-existent and posed a grave danger to the taxi drivers who work there in pitch darkness. The lights were fixed the next day.

We covered a story about millions of rupees of public funds going to waste and depicted a photo full of wrecked, damaged and abandoned police vehicles at the Island Motors compound. The vehicles have now been removed from public view for good measure.

We hope that President Michel will now take it upon himself to investigate what is going on at SFA as something is clearly not right there. Whilst he is at it we implore him to investigate the mysterious disappearance of the 4.5 million dollars which Joel Morgan gave away to a shady character from Dubai. The man swiftly disappeared with the money and was last seen in Timbuktu where Morgan has reassured us he will personally pursue the culprit and recover every cent stolen. We still await with bated breath, Minister Morgan!

Is the seat of the President too hot for President Michel?

Michel as vice President.Michel now as President

The two pictures above show President Michel on his inauguration and the remarkable transformation he has gone through a mere 3 years in his term as President of the Republic of Seychelles. Whereas the former picture shows President Michel with a full head of jet black hair the latter clearly shows that he is quickly losing his hair. This has led many to ask this pertinent question: Is our President pulling his own hair out of frustration or is the seat of the presidency too hot for even our mild mannered President?
