The Re-conditioning Of “Seychelles Strategy 2017”

The “Seychelles Strategy 2017” is not a week old and it’s already doomed to failure.  Cracks the sizes of buses are being made in it.  This happened recently when the 5 STAR “Banyan Tree Resort” received two re-conditioned Ashok Leyland buses for its use.  The Ministry of Finance ban’s the importation of re-conditioned vehicles into the Seychelles.  Apparently in return for the Managing Director praising the crooked system the government has been implementing over the years, the company has received a crooked deal.  You cannot miss these buses with “Banyan Tree” written on the front.  The next step to be taken is to write “Seychelles Strategy 2017” on the side of the buses.

SBC cannot change it’s spots

The SBC Act is to be amended.  The decision was taken 14 year’s ago.  Since the “Seychelles Strategy 2017” was not written then “plus sa çhange…” is continuing to be the order of the day.  In its report on the challenge being brought by the Democratic Party, SBC reported that the Attorney General commented that the plaint was below standard and a waste of time of the judiciary.  SBC in their report confirmed that small things please small minds. They as usual failed to report that the failures, given such prominent airing on TV, were only two typographical errors in the typing of the plaint. If these are as serious as reported why didn’t SBC report that the Attorney General agreed, at the court’s request, to correct these during the court proceedings?  The substance and main issue at stake, completely ignored by SBC, is that a serious error of procedure has been committed by the Electoral Commissioner.  An old leopard cannot change its spots and we await till another court order to amend the SBC Act.

Seychelles Police work only during the day

Parking on the Victoria Taxi Stand is reserved only for licensed taxis.  During the day if you do so the Seychelles Police are wide awake and take immediate action.  At night it is a totally different story, especially during the weekends.  The car park is jam-packed with private vehicles, drunken drivers and loud music.  Police on duty look the other way and let the law as it should be, asleep.  When the Police Commissioner sleeps, the law also sleeps!

Taking a walk is a sign of dementia

Unlike the President and Secretary General of the SPPF Central Committee, the Leader of the Democratic Party feels free to walk about Victoria.  This is done without armed body guards and cars with dark-tinted windows and windscreens.  To “The People” this is a sign of dementia.  Their reasoning is that if one show comfort in taking a casual stroll there is something amiss.  It is reflects a mindset brought to believe that all those in high places must at all times be aloof and shy away from any contact with the ordinary people.  Such contact can only happen as part of a stage managed charade, with cheap political points.  They forget that only the guilty are afraid.

The La Louise Road Junction

The Department of Land Transport should re-look at the junction leading to La Louise/La Misere.  The road becomes a nightmare during peak traffic periods.  This is because traffic wanting to go on towards Roche Caiman or Plaisance is in direct competition for road space with traffic wanting to go towards Mont Fleuri.  Traffic congestion can be eased by opening the road mouth to accommodate traffic of both directions.  This can be accomplished by re-molding the island in this fashion. The current island takes up substantial road surface preventing traffic moving in the two directions at once.
