SEX, LIES AND SCANDAL.....…
A scandal has erupted within the SPPF rank with several prominent persons embroiled in controversy and intrigue. It has been known for some time now that some powerful people in the SPPF hierarchy have and continues to indulge in extra marital affairs and financial scandal. At least three high profile members of the National Assembly are known to have been involved in a love triangle and a Minister’s wife is alleged to have recently attacked and assaulted her love rival in the streets of Victoria in broad daylight for all to see. Another woman recently appointed in a powerful post is also alleged to have exchanged sexual favours for a water heater. When the tape was inadvertently released to the public its content (which made several references to the word “baby” when referring to the man) caused embarrassment and uneasiness to quite a few people. Sexual promiscuity at the highest echelon of government is prevalent and has unfortunately become the norm. Recently at least three SPPF Ministers were clearly seen at a private birthday party at Love Nut discotheque cavorting with naked girls who were dancing and flaunting their naked bodies in front of all the distinguished guests. One particularly shy Minister was clearly seen blushing and uncomfortable with the whole scene although he stayed to endure the whole torturous evening. The whole strip tease show which was captured live on video camera has now landed firmly in the hands of some very interested individuals who have shown it to our journalists for future use. On the occasion of the National Day recently President Michel has vouched to crack down on these immoral practices as the government seems to have been embarrassed time and time again by the very people who ought to lead by example.
The church has inexplicably failed in its moral responsibility to condemn these immoral behaviours and address these issues in a serious manner, as the moral standard of our leaders have slipped to yet greater depths. This is more pressing now for with the advent of the HIV virus, which is causing havoc amongst our population, the church needs more than ever before, to be the guiding light leading the congregation on the garden path to the moral high ground. . The church, which has a pivotal role to play in the community and society at large, is also the moral guardian of society and should not abdicate its responsibility.
Radovan Kreycir has also specifically identified several persons linked to the SPPF whom he claimed stole, begged, borrowed and swindled him out of large sums of money both in Seychelles rupees and foreign currency. He, in turn, has promised to publicly name these persons and pursue legal actions to recover all his money upon his return to Seychelles. He has also vouched to settle some personal scores ultimately and this has caused restlessness and sleepless nights to quite a few people, as his reputation in that respect is well known and precedes him. Financial scandals have also been reported at DBS where allegations of scams to rip off unsuspected clients are also rife. Large sums of money in foreign exchange have recently disappeared from the hands of a particular Minister and have not been recovered to date. Although these scandals have been kept under wraps and swept under the carpet, it is slowly creeping out in the public domain and many influential people are known to have expressed outrage and disapproval in private.
Weekly recently published a story about yet another Minister and at least one person working directly at State House and close to the President, who were seen onboard the super yacht “Le Pharaoh” belonging to a controversial billionaire wanted by the FBI. Since the publication of this story the yacht has surreptitiously left Seychelles waters and its destination remains a mystery. As plans to build several super hotels worth hundreds of millions of dollars in Seychelles are being announced there are also talks of kick backs and shady deals at the highest level. At least one high ranking government official (Principal Secretary) is known to have secured a multi million rupee luxury apartment for himself after helping a building contractor of Indian origin secure prime state land on the water’s edge at Providence to build an apartment complex which were later sold to the rich and famous for massive profits. It is also not uncommon for prime state land to be given to high public officials on very favourable terms to set up their own private business empire whilst they continue to work in the government apparatus. It is known that high value land at Providence facing the sea front has been given to at least one Principal Secretary to build a massive warehouse. All these transactions are questionable and renders President Michel’s “war against corruption” rhetoric seems like but empty promises. His election promise to set up an Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate alleged acts of corruption has not materialized and seems to have been conveniently forgotten.
What has surprised many though is the government’s reluctance or unwillingness to take any action against these individuals involved for fear that this would confirm what is already public knowledge. The perception of corruption in Seychelles is very high indeed and it is becoming increasingly apparent that corruption is still rife in the country despite some lame attempts to stamp it out at the lowest level. The irony is that when it happens at the highest level it is furiously refuted, making full use of SBC television at prime time to mislead the public. The moral standard of our leaders now seems on par with the spiraling corruptible practices which have shown a general lack of respect to the people who have elected them and caused consternation and contempt amongst the populace.
