Barclays Press Release

We would like to take this opportunity to warn our customers, and members of the public, regarding fraudulent activities that has come to our attention this past week.

We would like to express our concerns over reported cases of customers being conned to pay rupees in exchange for foreign exchange which, purportedly, are to be provided by members of Barclays Bank Staff outside our bank branches.  We have had 3 cases this week alone.  In one case a customer paid and lost a substantial amount of money.

We would like to warn you to be vigilant against such individuals, most of the time posing as staff members, and to avoid engaging in illegal transactions such as these.

“Under no circumstances would we allow our staff to transact outside the confines of the bank.  No staff has access to foreign exchange to engage in deals like this, customers should not allow themselves to be “duped” commented the Managing Director of Barclays, Mr. Frank Hoareau.

“We are looking closely with the Police on these cases and we would like to ask anyone approached, to please report it to the bank or the police.

Note from the Editor: The above Press Release was sent to us last week – Weekly was not published last week. However, we have decided to publish the Press Release in this issue to highlight the dangers of criminality around country. Members of the public need to be vigilant.
