Troukler
Judge me by my actions
With the festivities underway we continually hear President James Alix Michel exhort the people of Seychelles to work harder. This can be a signal that they should join the SPPF and then each try and steal USD 4.5 million. In this way, “Jj Spirit” will prosper and remain forever in power. Troukler says remember that over 30 years ago those who were in opposition at that time refused to protect and honour the constitution, refused to believe in the rule of law and order, and committed actions of anarchy and violence. Today these same people say “Kile lopposition” and “Judge me by my actions” – Business as usual!!!
President James Alix Michel snubs President Thabo Mbeki
After closing the Seychelles Embassy in Tshwane (Pretoria) President Michel took the initiative of rejoining SADEC. Now as a slap in the face to the organisation James Michel has ignored a Ministerial request from the South African government. The current consular representative in South Africa, Mrs. Kolsch, has ignored the South African Government’s official request that she present herself before the court in Kempton Park to explain the Seychelles Government’s role in the issuing of a passport under the name of Egbert Jules Savy to Radovan Krejcir. Troukler says “Remember what President Nelson Mandela did to President France Albert Rene?”
Seychelles Strategy 2017 going, going, gone!
When President James Alix Michel was told he had no programme for the Seychelles during the recent National Assembly elections he held up the much SPPF applauded Seychelles Strategy 2017 – upside down. Troukler said it was going no where. In a typical “Sesel pou Seselwa” piece of reasoning it was only after the visit of a former Irish Prime Minister that the “President of All Seychellois” accepted that his Seychelles Strategy 2017 was flawed and needed to be sealed in the “25 – 0” T-Shirt containers forever!
MLUH in very bad state
The sickness of the Minister who “lost” USD 4.5 million is spreading through the Ministry. The three week planning approval reply period is no longer valid. Planning applications, letters, files and memos get “lost”. Things are so bad that if an officer conducts a site visit on his/her own then you know you will not get planning approval. However, the handing over of a sizeable envelope of money soon fixes everything. Planning approval, applications, memos and files are soon “found” and approved after the payment. The only good thing in this case is that “Jj spirit” accepts Seychelles rupees!
One Man, One Job, One Pay!
“Leopard cannot change its spots” – so the saying goes. In true SPPF style. SPPF continues to waste tax payer’s money by paying many civil servants two or three salaries whilst the majority of us struggles with our minimum wage of R2025 per month. Grand J himself receives one salary as President, one as Minister of Internal Affairs, one as Minister of Defence and is set to add yet another salary as Minister of Health. Several members of the National Assembly have followed suit; Clifford Andre 3 salaries, David Payet 2, Andre Pool 2, Mrs Joevana Charles 2, Jennifer Vel 2 ….. Now we know why our economy has gone down South.
Seychelles, The SMB, China and COMESA
Last month on Monday 28th May, 2007, the SMB, a government owned parastatal, entered into an agency agreement with a company in China. This means that Seychelles, via SMB, will be the conduit for goods produced in China
into the COMESA Customs Union. Under the agreement SMB will also source goods for China within the region i.e. within COMESA. What remains to be seen is the good governance, transparency, and accountability that such a venture will bring into government related transactions.
The latter is highly improbable given that the Seychelles Government has also entered into a quarry agreement with The China State Construction Company. According to the USD 4.5 million dollar man, the decision for the quarry was part of a government to government agreement and was not open to tender. Again the shadow of government interference in private enterprise rears its ugly head. Local companies CCCL and UCPS who have made massive long term capital investments in the quarry industry were all passed over.
On this issue, the USD 4.5 million dollar man states that China State Construction was chosen because Seychelles Government believes that this particular company has the competency and technology to undertake such an enterprise. Again since criteria for such an undertaking are not made available, the people of Seychelles are asked to take this government at its word. This needs to be taken with a hefty pinch of salt given the track record of the current government in such undertakings.
