SPPF and the Speaker of the Assembly

Troukler finds it very funny that the SPPF now look towards democracy to protect the post of the Speaker of the National Assembly.  Their majority in the National Assembly did not democratically elect the Speaker of the National Assembly.  The Speaker was undemocratically appointed by President James Alix Michel.  This action was not in the protection of democracy as the Executive arm of democracy (The President) was directly interfering in the Legislative function of democracy (The Assembly).  The SPPF did not notice this and or else chose to ignore it.  Furthermore, the proceedings in the National Assembly has never been in favour of democracy or been towards strengthening democracy.  Suddenly democracy is at stake in the National Assembly only because the SPPF hypocrites think so.  Troukler says “how can you protect something that you do not have?”

Big Business and the Top Brass

In true “For the Love of Seychelles” spirit, President James “Judge me by my actions” Michel continues to use sycophancy and not meritocracy as his operating principle.  The current STB chairman has been given the entire tourism mandate for Seychelles.  This is putting all of Seychelles Tourism in the hands of one man.  His track record in tourism speaks for itself:  The “Gold Card” fiasco, the failed STMA, the environment tax, the bed tax and the greatest blunder of all supervising the 20 year Solid Waste Management Contract.  This contract was to make Seychelles the Switzerland of Tourism! But, to add insult to injury our top man in Seychelles tourism is also the Chairman of Star Seychelles.  Whose interest is Jj “The President of all Seychelles” really taking care of with such an appointment?  Troukler says “To give the SPPF credit, none of the SPPF MNA’s know about this!”

Rotten Fish from Farquhar

President James Alix Michel does not know or will never know better because although closing the “illegal hotel” on Farquahar may seem like a good idea what damage is he trying to cover up?  Remember that as Minister of Finance he has been responsible for giving IDC, run by Glenny Savy, 15 million rupees of public funds every year to run the parastatal.  IDC has never made any profit or been able to refund the Government any money.  Charging 1,600 Euros per head for a stay on Farquhar is not small business.  The money goes to a manager of the Mauritius Commercial Bank (MCB).  Is it than not strange that MCB also has an interest in Star Seychelles!  Star Seychelles has been paid by being given properties in Seychelles.  The properties are on the outer Islands of Seychelles.  It looks like tourism, the outer islands, banks and waste management have a lot in common in Seychelles – Jj spirit should remember that the smell that it gives off is very, very fishy!

Barclays and the public

Management Reporting by Barclays Indian Ocean Region has shifted from South Africa to India.  This has led to the Barclays Mauritius Manager resigning because of the “intrusive management” attitude of Barclays India.  In Seychelles, the switch has not had any effect – or so Troukler has been led to believe.  Although it is being portrayed as an internal affair, the clout that Barclays Bank has internationally is not, especially that the Chinese Communist government is now buying into Barclays for a share in the bank’s bid to becoming the largest banking group in Europe.  It would be in the public interest, seeing the size of Barclays in Seychelles, that such moves be made known to the general public.  Troukler says “when you are a big fish your breath to you can be a tornado to others!”
