Has Glenny Savy  lost his ability to talk?

Glenny Savy, Manager of IDC.Just like the 4.5 million dollar question, this new scandal is not likely to disappear unless a credible explanation is offered to the Seychellois public. The ‘Regar’ publication broke this story three weeks ago, after checking on its authenticity ‘Le Nouveau Seychelles Weekly’ followed suit the week after, two weeks ago, albeit in a satirical nature in Troukler’s column. Last week we went with the story again when a picture of the illegal hotel on the island of Farquhar was also sent to us through the internet.

Further information reached this office, last week, alleging that apparently payment for visitors wanting to spend a fishing holiday on Farquhar, to the tune of €1900 (euro) per head, was to be made in the name of one Pierre-Guy Noel, a Mauritian businessman, who so happens to be the CEO of the Mauritian Commercial Bank (MCB). For all we know, Mr. Pierre-Guy Noel might just be receiving money on behalf of someone else. The Seychelles Tourism Board has confirmed by telephone that they do not know of any legal hotel operation on the island of Farquhar. SIBA, the Seychelles International Business Authority responding to our enquiry cannot recall ever having received an application for a hotel project on the Island of Farquhar. The Seychelles Licensing Authority (SLA) confirmed to us that currently no license for a hotel on the Island has been issued. Based on the above information we can safely assume that an illegal hotel operation was therefore taking place on Farquhar. Until now everyone in the know have gone into silent mode. This includes the Chief Executive Officer of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB), the Government of Seychelles and most importantly the Islands Development Company (IDC), which is the institution that can best shed some light on the dark side of this matter is saying absolutely nothing! Glenny Savy, it seems, has lost his ability to talk?

This week we received an anonymous call informing us that the hotel operation on Farquhar has been closed down temporarily and the workers sent home until further notice. The caller informed us that in the meantime papers are being shredded to erase any paper trail that might incriminate the people behind the illegal hotel operation on Farquhar. We are not in a position to confirm or deny this allegation. This is why we need Glenny Savy to come forward to clear this matter up once and for all before gossips destroy further what little is left of the good reputation of IDC and the Seychelles Government. President Michel must not be seen to be protecting anyone in this matter. He needs to put his foot down on this one.

Or else, he will be sending out the wrong message to the top brass in his administration. It will allow the abuse of power and privileges to continue unabated and the suffering of the ordinary man in the streets will see no end! We need some transparency and a good dose of accountability in this matter, Please Mr. President! We beg of you! Do it “4 D luv of C-sel” (sms format).
