The Seychelles Nation can be accused of many things, but boy!! one cannot accuse them of not liking their political masters. They love their politicians in power to the extent that they are willing to slit their own collective throats, one nearly did last time about the devaluation issue, in defence of these spin doctors. The naturalised Editor of the Seychelles Nation since taking over from the newly appointed Principal Secretary for Youth, Sports and Culture, is wasting no time in cultivating his own brand of loyalty in order to achieve greater heights.
This week he demonstrated his full allegiance to the system by running the same story twice, on consecutive days, on the front page albeit with a different twist each time. However, something must have gone horribly wrong or could it be that he was suffering from over work and a lack of beauty sleep depriving him of his ability to look good and think straight?
On Monday, 9th July, 2007, the sycophantic Editor ran a story on the front page of our only daily entitled ‘Hotel School Changes Hands.’ We would like to draw your attention to a particular piece in the article where it was stated “that as tourism arrivals continue to rise, and given the provision of Seychelles Strategy 2017, 60 new hotels will be built within the next 10 years, requiring an additional 5,000 staff members.”
On Tuesday, 10th July, 2007, Mr. Editor ran the same story with a different twist this time entitled, “Hotel Beds To Double In Four Years’. Again, we would like to draw your attention to the piece about the construction of new hotels in the country, ‘Seychelles government has approved the construction of 60 hotels within the next four years, that will increase the number of hotel beds from 6,000 to 11,000’, the article stated.
Now Mr. Editor, stop misleading the reading public and go and get the correct version of this story aimed at putting wind in the sails of the people who gave you the job. We need to be informed correctly on these matters. It is our rights to good, factual information you are playing with. In the process please do not slit your throat, Mr. Editor!
