Something wrong at SFA

SIR, I wonder if it has escaped your attention that there must be something wrong at SFA.  There has been four or five Chairman at the Head of the Organisation over a five year period.  This gives a very bad impression to our foreign partners but also to local fisherman. What  have these Chairman done wrong?  Have they upset the Managing Director?

An Observer

Appointment of Dr V. Ramadoss

SIR, this morning in Canada, I read the news in the Nation from its website concerning the appointment of Dr V. Ramadoss as the Chairman of the Dental and Medical Association.  Of course, I am prompted to ask who is this Dr Ramadoss and what qualities he possesses to be able to have become the “Superman” of Seychelles? I understand from my relatives that Dr Ramadoss is the owner of:-

(1)   The Pirates Arms in Victoria

(2)   The Coco D’or Hotel in Beau Vallon

(3)   The Amusement Centre in Victoria

(4)   The Inter-Lotto in Victoria

(5)   The casino des Iles in Praslin

(6)   The casino in building progress in La Digue

(7)   The newly opened casino in the Pirates Arms building

(8)   The modern multi-million hospital project in building stage in Roche Caiman

(9)   The People’s Supermarket in Mont Fleuri

(10) The Independent newspaper

(11)  Many housing estates in Bel Ombre, La Digue and Praslin

And now it is rumoured that he may be even be buying Printec in Mont Fleuri. No doubt, the sharing and caring policy of President Michel’s Government must be going all his way – except for the conviction of many Seychellois that Dr Ramadoss is nothing more than the front man of Former President Albert Rene, who uses him to produce resources in order to enable him to control President Michel – except of course, President Michel may also wish to be fronted by Dr Ramadoss.

I am, of course, reminded of Emperor Bedel Bokassa of Central Africa who became Emperor and owned all the business in his capital City of Bangi before falling to utter national and international disgrace.

Yours faithfully

J. Benoiton, Toronto
