Most tourists visiting the Indian Ocean go to just one destination, a recent survey found. Only 15% booked double destinations, usually Mauritius-Reunion, because of the proximity of the two islands and flight frequency between them.
The survey also revealed that most visitors hoped for complete relaxation in new surroundings, such as lovely beaches, while enjoying authentic island culture and comforts normally associated with good holidays. Many visitors from France have already been to the Caribbean ( French Antilles) and have a tendency to make comparisons. It was, however, noted that people in the Indian Ocean are generally more welcoming.
Seychelles’ image as an island resort, boasting beautiful beaches and rich marine life was well established, especially in Europe.
Likewise, other island destinations were linked to virgin forests, mountains and volcanoes.
