Dear Editor,
Allow me space in Weekly for my letter.
I am close to a Minister in the SPPF Government. I have worked hard and diligently for a number of years to do what is best for our People. It has not been easy. In fact, as time goes on, it gets harder and harder. Sometimes I do not sleep at night because of the things I know are happening in our Government under James Michel.
Michel is selling Seychelles to the Arabs and others as you rightly pointed out in your Weekly paper. This is true. There are a number of transactions that have been done and many more are ongoing. While I do what Michel says to do, as a Seychellois, who loves my country, I cannot sleep at night. I did not join SPPF to sell Seychelles. In fact, now I despise what Michel is doing and only work to keep my job. The free fuel is helpful in these difficult times.
Beyond this issue of “Selling Seychelles”, Michel is not leading this country anywhere, most of the people around him are not capable leaders. They are not assertive enough and lacks attention to details unlike Rene. We should bring Rene back. If not, Danny Faure should be propelled to the front line. Did you watch and hear the Independence Day message on SBC TV from the President? His speech writer must have been drunk writing it. It was more like an SMS text then a message for Independence Day.
At State House, workers there tell me it is chaotic. Even the filing system is upside down. Everyone is more interested in running their own business more than running the affairs of state. This is a situation that is driving Seychelles down fast. If we have no leadership, then everyone starts running their own operation. I have more to say, but I will leave it here for now.
In the meantime, I must tell all the People of Seychelles, that not all the Ministers believe in Michel. Some of them are just protecting their jobs, so do not attack them too much. We are not the problem, just the symptoms.
Sincerely,
$ 4.5 Million
Please allow me to comment on Mr. France Albert Rene’s diatribes on SBC relating to Jean-Francois Ferrari’s resignation as member of the National Assembly for the Mont Fleuri district. Ferrari’s forced resignation was clearly the result of the Speaker, Patrick Herminie’s arrogance callousness and total lack of respect for an elected member of the House. Rene’s diatribes however, was typically the attitude of a dictator who believes that everybody must do what he asks them to do without questioning his motives. For example Rene said that Ferrari was elected to serve a 5 year term and whatever happens he should have served his mandate. But Rene seemed to forget (or perhaps due to old age he truly forgot) that he himself was re-elected President in 1998 to serve a 5 year mandate. However, only 3 years in his mandate – in 2001 to be precised – Rene called a snap Presidential election. Why, therefore did you Rene, not serve your 5 year term? You ruled absolutely then. No one dared disrespecting you, nor trampled over your Constitutional Rights, nor did showing contempt for you like Herminie do vis-à-vis Ferrari in the National Assembly. Why are you now asking other people to serve their full mandate when you yourself did not do it at one time? Don’t forget that President Michel also curtailed the National Assembly’s life by one year just recently. But according to Rene’s logic, no one else should do it except SPPF leaders. Sorry sir, you are in no position to lecture anyone whatsoever. You are no role model for anyone to emulate.
The obvious reason for SPPF not contesting the bye-election in Mont Fleuri is simply fear. Fear of losing again in that district. Whatever excuses Rene gave for SPPF not contesting is simply rubbish. SPPF chicken out plain and simple! Let’s not forget that in its newsletter “People Plus” SPPF let everyone who would listen know that it is taking back Mont Fleuri. This is what “People Plus” Vol. 8 No.1 of June 2008 had to say on page 2 under the heading “Mont Fleuri I an dey” (Mont Fleuri is mourning). “All SNP activists are in mourning because they know that once and for all, Mont Fleur is returning to the SPPF and that soon they (SNP activists) would be wearing the colour Red”. This is not an invention Mr. Rene; this is what your newsletter said. So, Mr. Rene, why are you now whining like a man with a heart of a baby in need of his “bibron”? It would have had been better you came out and say, my party, SPPF, has chickened out of the bye-election!
For once in all these years, the opposition has finally managed to floor the SPPF without throwing a single punch. Thanks to Herminie’s callousness and bad judgment, people have not come to realize what short of a creature the monster called SPPF really is – simply a lame chicken! Thank you Herminie for having shown to the whole world the defects in the SPPF soi-disant invincible armour.

Dear Mr. Paul Chow,
With regards to the pull out from the election by the SPPF, and following a meeting they had at the ‘Maison du Peuple’ yesterday, it is advisable that you drop the nomination of Mr. Elizabeth and do not take part in this election as well. Let Ferrari be declared the winner and he will go back to the assembly which is where he belongs to represent the Mont Fleuri district.
The SPPF is going to place a great number of people in Mont Fleuri to watch on who goes to vote and they are going to record the names of each and everyone of the inhabitant. For us who are Civil Servants working in the Government and living at Mont Fleuri finds ourselves to be in a difficult situation because we are going to be victimized and also loose our job. This was the topic of the meeting at Maison du Peuple last night.
Please understand us as we have our children to care. SPPF have now become more violent than ever. There are people spying at night in the Mont Fleuri District listening to conversation and telephones are taped as well.
Most of us Civil Servants of Mont Fleuri supported the alliance of the last election and we voted for Ferrari and you can see how the inhabitants of Mont Fleuri are being treated by the SPPF government.
We have decided not to go to vote because we are going to be victimized and loose our jobs. Please Mr. Chow listens to us and withdraws from this election. If the SPPF was to take part, then it would have been ok for us to go to vote, but now with DP and SNP contesting, we cannot go to the polling station.
Please liaise with the SNP and get things sorted out for the benefit and the sake of us Civil Servants living at Mont Fleuri. Our lives are in danger and you must understand this. Please pull out now.
By copy of this letter, I am asking SNP to liaise with you DP and consider this request for the love of Mont Fleuri Civil Servants.
Regards
Mont Fleuri Civil Servants
c.c. Mr. Ramkalawan – SNP
Editor’s note: We note that the Mont Fleuri Civil Servants are only appealing to DP to pull out, but they are not making an appeal to the SNP to give DP back its seat in the National Assembly, which DP deserves out of right for backing the SNP at the last National Assembly elections. Why do we have a feeling that we smell a rat???
Dear Editor,
I read the 2 letters that were written between Mr. Chow and Mr. Ramkalawan. These two gentlemen miss the entire point of politics.
Mr. Ramkalawan talks to Michel, but writes to Chow. Shame on him for putting self before Country. In his letter he wiggles here and there like a fat worm.
Mr. Chow writes demanding a seat that was taken over a year ago, thinking Mr. Ramkalawan will do a quid pro quo when he does not even talk to Mr. Chow and Mr. Ramkalawan threw Frank Elizabeth out of the National Assembly without cause in the first place. Just because perhaps, Frank Elizabeth was his own man and Ramkalawan, from SPUP stock, does not like that type of person.
I think these leaders in the Opposition need to wake up and smell the realities we face today, if not, each side needs to make them accountable for not taking the situation of Seychelles seriously. In the meantime, SPPF gloats over the Oppositions incompetence. Ramkalawan of course leads the parade of charades.
