Seychelles has barely changed, it is still as beautiful as ever!”

Pym and Selina Langtry. Pim is back in Seychelles after 46 years.

Le Nouveau Seychelles Weekly met Mr. Robin Langtry White, famously known as Pym to his friends, and with his lovely wife Selina Langtry. They had come to Seychelles on a cruise ship, passing through Port Victoria this week on its way to Perth, Australia. According to Pym, that was not his first visit to the islands. He has been here before, in 1961, forty-six years ago. He came on an aircraft carrier, HMS Bulwark. Pym was on board in his capacity as a helicopter pilot.

Whilst Selina was at the computer in an internet café, Global Internet, in possibly the smallest capital city of the world, Victoria, typing away vigorously, Pym stood at the bar reminiscing over that memorable visit he made to Seychelles all these years ago. “Seventeen of our soldiers came down to shore and camped overnight on the lawn of this magnificently beautiful mansion. Owned at the time by an American millionaire – it was wonderful – a lovely mansion built almost into the rocks. Another officer and I stayed inside the house.” Pym told us.

“We snorkled for three weeks in the waters and reefs around the islands – it was beautiful. We also flew over the islands enjoying spectacular views. However, as we were walked down towards the Port along the beach to go back to the ship, we saw a group of men presumably fishermen standing around something; it turned out to be a huge shark, at least ten feet long. It was dead. No one had warned us about sharks at all.” he explained.

“I know it is a long time – I had expected it to change – but it hasn’t – it is still the same – clean, smart and very English – it is a wonderful place. My wife and I are glad to be here – it is lovely to be back.” Pym expressed with emotions.

Pym and Selina are sailing out to Perth, Australia, where their son is learning to fly. They left Seychelles with fond memories hoping to be back one day. We wish Pym, Selina, and all on board the Saga Ruby a marvellous holiday and a safe journey back home.
