SEYCHELLES TO GET IT TRAINING CENTRE?

Indian experts discussing the feasibility of an IT Training Center.

News that three Indian Experts completed a feasibility study for the setting up of an IT Training Centre in Seychelles is great news to all with the furtherance and the spread of technology in Seychelles at heart. Such a centre is needed and the partnership of a leading player in the global IT field is much welcome, seeing that our own Ministry of Education and the Seychelles Institute of Management (SIM) have both failed us miserably in the Information Sector arena. However, it is worth noting that when they “consulted with officials from various ministries, departments and the private sector…” (Seychelles Nation Feb 6th), apparently, they did not bother to meet with the leading IT company in the Seychelles, VCS (Pty) Limited whose building is next door to the Indian High Commission’s building!

While we are on the IT subject, can President Michel PLEASE! PLEASE! and please! ask either the Chinese or the Indian Government to link us ASAP to the undersea fibre optic link so that we can have decent internet speeds in the future.  This is one of the most important development needed in our country, and even if we have to get down on our knees, we at Le Nouveau Seychelles Weekly are quite prepared to join with you Mr. President, we should do it for the “love of Seychelles”! It will be invaluable for the advancement of our economy.
