TROUKLER
THE BODY LANGUAGE GIVES THE GAME AWAY
Surprise, surprise the Seychelles Nation did not disappoint on Monday morning we got the above photograph on the front page ordered by State House most probably. But there again the cracks are visible. The Minister of Finance had his right hand in his pocket or behind his back, it is difficult to tell. However, any body language expert will tell you that due to the fact that his right hand is not being allowed to flow freely shows uneasiness and discomfort.
All the indications are that things are not “au-fait” between the former and current Finance Ministers. Their differences are enormous. News already out is that former President Rene is planning to step down as party leader after the National Assembly elections and his choice of replacement is not the head of state…………
“The Taming of our Bishop”
“Mr. Albert Payet, Manager, Telecommunications at Cable and Wireless, was prepared to install a fax machine at Bishop’s House.
On the 17th of October 1991, the Bishop applied to the Ministry of Finance for a license to have and use a Fax machine.
On the 31st of October, Mr. Laurence, signing for PRINCIPAL SECRETARY, wrote: “In order to be able to further process your application to install a Fax machine, we would like to know the reasons to have a Fax.”
The request seemed so naïve and so childish that the bishop ignored it! Again on 20th November, Mr. Laurence signing for PRINCIPAL SECRETARY wrote: “It appears that we have not received a response from you to date regarding the above subject. We would be grateful if the necessary action required is taken and an answer is sent to us as soon as possible.”
The letter was copied to Mr. Payet. Again the Bishop observed silence!
Still no permission was granted. Mr Payet took it on himself and installed a FAX machine at Bishop’s House on the 26th December, as a gift for Christmas.
Are the finance people so ignorant as not to know that one wants a Fax machine, because Telefax makes it possible to send and receive documents, letters, messages etc… in confidence and without interference? Or have the “obedient servant” of once, become nowadays “arrogant bosses” of the people!”
