WHEN YOU LIVE IN A GLASS HOUSE…

In a recent issue of “The People” (Vol. 16 No. 2 dated  18 January 2007) certain members of the opposition were referred to as “lining their nests” in a front page article, entitled ‘SNP members pad their nests’.  The article hinted at the misdemeanor being committed by the persons referred therein.  This appears to be a move by the paper towards bringing to task persons who appear to be working against the principal of the offices that they hold.  As the mouth-piece of the ruling party, “The People” should now propose that the “Declaration of Assets” motion be immediately promulgated into law.  This would allow prompt and direct action to be taken against all those who are “lining their nests”!

In enacting the law there should be no limitation on its application – things like: “The Retrospective Child Adoption Law”, “The Children’s Fund”, “Drafix”, “RSA sanction busting”, “BCCI”, “Spirit of Koxe”, “The Maserati Boys”, “Government of Seychelles Public Debt”, “Kyoto Restaurant”, “SHDC Housing Contracts”, “Amusement Centre”, “Sales of Fishermans Cove/ Pirates Arms/Reef Hotel and Golf Club”, “Rwanda arms sales”, “The Can Crushing Factory”, “Pharmaceutical Contracts for the Ministry of Health”, “Expansion of Praslin Airport contracts”, “Anse Source D’argent – La Digue” should, amongst countless others, ALL be within the ambit of the law.  Benjamin Disraeli said that Justice is truth in action.  It is only when justice is done, that there can be peace and equal rights.
