France Bonte is a generous man!

Mr Frances Bonte studied a Postgraduate Diploma in Practice & Law at The City University (1986) after moving to London from the Seychelles.

Having returned to the Seychelles, he is now an accomplished lawyer with his own law firm La Poudriere Law & Consultancy Chambers.

He also participates actively in the Seychellois political environment and serves as the Head of the Constitutional Appointments Authority.

Having much enjoyed his experience at The City University, Mr Bonte  hopes to return to pursue a PhD research program with City’s prestigious Inn’s Court School of Law in the future.

Mr Bonte was contacted by one of our student callers during the Spring 2006 telephone campaign. During the conversation, Mr Bonte expressed how much he enjoyed the contact City University has maintained with him over the years stating: “City makes alumni feel much valued and appreciated even years after graduation.”

When he learnt that the University has established the Annual Fund to improve Student Welfare, Teaching, Research, Environment and Facilities, Mr Bonte was interested to learn more about the areas where support was most urgently needed. He felt that he would like to give something back to the university by helping current and future students.

Having conversed with the student caller, Mr Bonte, kindly agreed to donate £900 to purchase an HP laser printer for the library.

The students will benefit from the new facility enormously, as there is a shortage of printers available and long queues during peak times.

The Head of The Library, Liz Harris expressed her appreciation on behalf of the students, commenting “We are so grateful for this support from Mr Bonte. It is great that our alumni give back to the University.

It is extremely motivating for us.”

A plaque will be erected by the printer acknowledging Mr Bonte’s generous support.
