Christmas message from Bishop of Port Victoria, Denis Wiehe
Christmas is a time of special rejoicing for all of us: we meet as family, we gather with our friends, we exchange gifts and good wishes. Christmas is celebrated here in the Seychelles and everywhere in the world and even more so today in our world of fast traveling and easy communication.
To all who live in the Seychelles and in a special way to all the readers of ‘The Seychelles Weekly’, I wish the true joy of Christmas. This joy is something deep down within us and it can only be ours if we put Christ back into Christmas.
Christ comes to us at every Christmas in the same simple and even humble way that he came at the first Christmas. Christ is God’s gift to us in the Seychelles and to all of humanity. His message today is the same as long ago: be reconciled, live in true friendship and fraternity, be open to others who may be different from you, care for the weak and the poor, be agents of peace and unity in your family and in society.
May this true joy be yours at Christmas this year!
+ Denis Wiehe,
(Bishop of Port Victoria)
