Christopher Gill's Column

SPPF Diplomacy Implosion

Christopher GillSix months after Mr. President had tea in a “temporarily air-conditioned” Roche Caiman residence with People’s Republic of China President Hu Jing Tao, Mr. President has now brought the wrath of Indian Ocean regional powers upon us.

In February 2007, I wrote an article in the “Seychelles Review” about China’s ambition to secure a base in the Indian Ocean region, the Seychelles in particular, to secure it’s shipping lanes, safe-guard the transport of raw materials from Africa and the Middle East, which work well in their plans for world hegemony.  Since then, personnel in the Seychelles Peoples Defense Forces (SPDF) have so hinted that this is in deed true.  Communist China is in fact courting the communist SPPF Government to achieve this objective.

In the free world, when a Government of the day does not respond to the veracity of statements in the press concerning its policies and intentions, they are taken to mean that the statements are true.  Having said that, it must be true.

What Has Happened Since Then:-

India Has Made a Move

Since the highly publicised visit of President Hu Jing Tao to our little Seychelles, India, the great democracy to the Northeast of us and second most potent military naval force in the India Ocean, has expeditiously signed two lease agreements with the Maldives Islands and the Republic of Mauritius for tracking station facilities to track satellites in the region.  They will not be sending weather reports to Delhi and Washington.  One Station is based at Agalega Islands not far from Coetivy.  We use to collect salted fish on Agalega, which would make it to our markets in Victoria.  Now India and her allies will collect data of activity on our outer islands and that information will be made available to New Delhi, Tokyo, Sydney and Washington to deliberate over.  They will monitor every imaginable SPPF activity on these islands from MNA parties, to dredging on Poivre Island which has recently been revealed to be ongoing.  They will also have information of any deep port facilities being dredged and bunkers and armory being built.  They will look out for missile launching systems disguised as laundry facilities to outer island hotel projects.

USA Has Made a Move

Since President Hu Jing Tao and Mr. President sipped tea in a temporarily air conditioned house not far from Eden Island in February 2007, the United States, the strongest military and naval force in the Indian Ocean, has set out to create an Indian Ocean Regional Force, called the Indian Ocean Alliance.  This Alliance is made up of the USA, India, Australia and Japan.  There maybe new members to join later to balance the ever growing ambitions of a Communist China, a Nation that the SPPF Government enjoys very close surrogate ties with.  In fact, the relationship is so close that the Communist China Government has offered, the SPPF Government has accepted, that they will build our National Assembly Building and equip it with computers, paper and White-Out-all for free in the name of Communist Solidarity! Imagine two communist governments building an institution for democracy together… marvellous!

It will not be long before Mr. President has us, little Seychelles, join the China, Sudan, Pakistan India Ocean Axis of Totalitarism.

The USA maintains “cordial” relations with Seychelles.  They send ships on shore leave.  MISD records them as Tourists.  They are not Tourists.  That is really silly.  They are soldiers.  They cannot do everything Tourists can do when they come here.  They are here for an undetermined amount of time, out of no choice of their own, and they are fore-warned that they will be visiting a communist island state which curries close relations with Communist China.  Of course they are also warned that the Beer is the most expensive in the world and they should drink very slowly while enjoying paradise.

A second move the United States has made is to send a “Cajun Creole Band” to play for us in Seychelles.  Admission was free.  Have you ever heard of a band playing for free in the United States? Of course not.  I leave the rest to your imagination.  They also suggested Seychelles should send a band to Louisiana in order that we Creoles can all get to know one another really well.

Japan Prime Minister Has Spoken

Recently Mr. Abe, the new Prime Minister of Japan, spoke to the Parliament of India on the issue of the Indian Ocean Alliance and he said, “…this partnership is an association in which we share fundamental values such as Freedom, Democracy, and respect for…Human Rights as well as strategic interests”.

Michel Caught Left Footed

Since we have opted to adopt Red China as our surrogate, Mr. Michel has diplomatically opted Seychelles out of the Indian Ocean Alliance.  Now the Alliance is spending much time and effort to watch us little Seychelles, with good cause of course.  In effect, since Michel visited China last year, and President Hu Jing Tao visited us in February 2007, Mr. President has completed a diplomatic implosion of Seychelles in the Indian Ocean region.  He has been caught left-footed with all the naval diplomacy ongoing with USA, India, Japan and Australia, while he frolics in Singapore to take-on a pop-up holiday after firing over One Hundred Government Staff.  How nice it must feel to be left-footed.

While Mr. President enjoys a fine breakfast in Singapore’s finest five star hotels over his holiday, his Advisors may want to refresh his memory of a wise policy decision First President James Mancham proclaimed in 1976Seychelles Shall Be Friend to All and Enemy to None”.

Once reminded of this simple but wise policy, Mr. President may want to reassert it quickly and show his good faith by asking Communist China to take that money for the National Assembly Building and place it in our Fishing Port to assist our hard-working fishermen who must compete unfairly against French Purse Seiners from La Reunion, which Mr. President seems to think is alright, since he has the French watching our fish.

May God Bless all Freedom Loving Seychellois!
