Points of View

“Jj Spirit E-Dreaming”

The nightmare is getting worse for this government.  After dreaming about oil and more oil, building tankers that go around the world with no cargo, they now turn to information technology as a concept.  Remember while President Michel was Minister of Finance a project called “e-government” was started.  Millions and millions and more millions were spent on the project without a single outcome!  The project disappeared and Mr. Michel also forgot about it until recently!  In another desperate move Michel has returned to the concept of e-government to say that he is “re-structuring government” for better efficiency.  This, he promises on television, will be through the use of information technology.  There is no mention of computer costs and the training involved, like in the first failed exercise.  “A drowning (in oil) man will grasp at a computer!”

Price Control at SupaSave

When compared with Docklands, prices at SupaSave are very, very, expensive.  The Price Control, Consumer Protection, Trades Taxes, Customs, Revenue Authority, Trade Unions etc. etc. are all deaf, dumb and blind!  Why? The people are saying that it is because “ek nou, pa ek nou” is the guiding principle.  As long as you sing the right song, wave the right flag, wear the right colour clothes you are untouchable!  The people who own the shop have “4 D Luv of C-sel” logo on their bank accounts and this gives them carte blanche to charge whatever price they like.  Troukler says “Remember SMB – they are above the law when it comes to pricing because SPPF is the law maker”.

Putting the Cart before the Horse again!!!

President James Michel was the former Minister of Finance.  Vice-President James Belmont was also Minister of Tourism and was formerly in charge of Administration and Manpower.  Minister Shamlaye has been in Education since before 5 June 1977.  Between the three of them, counting their presence on the “Council of Ministers” makes for about a century of experience in socio-economic affairs of Seychelles.  Yet, it is in 2007, the later half of the year at that, after ambushing true Seychellois citizens at work, that they realise the importance of tourism and education to True Seychellois.  You dismiss people from work and ask the youth to value work?  You have never promoted Seychellois at the top-levels of Tourism in Seychelles and now want to turn the so-called academy into a centre of excellence?  The “Jj spirit is strong, strong, strong – you only need to smell it and you are already drunk – look at how they start to promote Seychellois after 30 years!”

SPPF and Racism

The ordinary man and woman are very happy to see that the SPPF political mouthpiece “The People” has racism very, very high on its agenda.  It attacks anyone that it is told is racist.  Yet the Great Leader, Revolutionary Hero and Founding Father of the SPUP/SPPF, was the first one to say “I do not like Indians”.   Because of the “Do as I say, and not as I do” policy of the SPPF elite not a single anti-racist among the hypocrites in that group can say anything about this.  Look at the number of private beaches that has sprung up in Seychelles in the last thirty years.  Some of the largest tour operators, with SPPF patronage, have venues which are open only to non-Seychellois.  Real Seychellois are extremely not welcomed there.  But again the “People” is blind to all this.  It is evident that “For thirty-one years they have been told what to think, what to do and what to say – they are liberated.”
