The Red Trees To Perform At The Regatta

The Seychelles’ Red Trees Rock South Africa!!!

Cutting edge Seychelles band The Red Trees have returned from a successful road trip to South Africa.

Thanks to sponsorship from Air Seychelles and Takamaka Bay, The Premier Spirit of Seychelles, the band, (Bassist Martin Kennedy, Singer/guitarist Pat Flynn, Lead Guitarist Julio Godley and Drummer Kurt Gilbert) & their management team spent 10 days all up in South Africa from 7 August to 17 August, in and around Johannesburg region.

During their time in South Africa the band played 3 live shows including a headlining gig at South Africa’s number one live music venue, ‘The Blues Room” in Johannesburg

The Red Trees also spent 6 days all up in two of the country’s most modern recording studios laying down tracks for their forthcoming (much anticipated) 14 track debut album, tentatively titled, ‘The Race To The Bottom”.

The band’s manager Ken Bisogno whilst in Joburg engaged in further consultations with Sony BMG (the world’s biggest Record Company) about a possible International recording deal. According to Ken, Sony BMG have asked for copies of the band’s new recordings when finalized. Once tendered, further discussions are expected to take place between the band’s management team and Sony BMG.

The spokesperson for The Red Trees, Julio Godley says, “The South African tour was quite an adventure for us. Although we are happy to have received positive feedback from the gigs what we are most pleased about is the quality of the recordings that we did over there.  We originally recorded demos for the album back in March, but having had up to 6 months to refine the songs, plus the chance to record in top level studios, we are extremely pleased with how well the songs  have scrubbed up… and we haven’t even heard them properly mixed yet!”

He adds further, “We recorded ‘live’, that is all together at once in the studio. By recording that way we feel that we’ve managed to capture the essence of our passionate live concert sound. And of course we are extremely pleased that Sony BMG are still interested. The plan from here is to record some backing vocals -  and perhaps some keyboards - here at home, then we load it all back into the hard drive and  send it to SA for mixing, mastering and packaging. From there it’s a matter of our manager Ken sitting down with Sony BMG - and hopefully some other record companies - for further negotiations. Although we’re hopeful of being able to finalise an International recording or distribution deal what we’re really looking forward to right now is getting  back to doing what we do best which is playing live - and hooking up with our many loyal fans at home”.

For anyone interested in checking out the band’s much talked about high energy live performance, please note The Red Trees have been asked to play at The Regatta, Beau Vallon, Saturday evening 30 August.
