Christopher Gill's Column

Christopher GillWe Have No Problems

I have been reading the propaganda that the SPPF are putting out each week. Obviously what I write in this Column is the complete opposite of what the SPPF write in People, People Plus, Isola Bella, Nation, and even what they say on SBC, the broadcasting mouthpiece of the communist regime. In Independent, they attack me, and say that I suffer from delusions of despair and false impression of social ills all about us.

SPPF have conspired with SNP to attack me. In Viyzon recently, they attacked me and chastised me, calling me names, and referred to me as "bonom cross the floor", ridiculing me, in the false hope, that they both can break my resolve. Well, you can put SNP and SPPF together; they will not break my resolve. Being from the same family of coup d’etat plotters, same group of paid Informants will not break my resolve.

There is much to be done beyond writing articles to educate our people of failed ideas and failed leaders. But for now, I will just write. The time will come if the People wish, for me to do more. If that time comes, you deadbeats living off the sweat and blood of good hard working Seychellois better grab a hoe, shovel and rake for your new jobs, since a pen is useless to you all. This SNP- SPUP SPPF/IMF is not arrogance, it is truth.

Political Winds Are Changing

As the political playing field gets confusing in Seychelles, Seychellois remember well, when the weather changes from Northeast to Southwest, we change our fishing grounds, and we adjust as a people to the changes. Do not allow yourself to get caught on the wrong side of the wind in this political Southeast monsoon Seychelles is faced with today.

Punish Those Who Publicly Express Themselves

As punishment for my writing, the SPPF restrict me from conducting my businesses as the Constitution so guarantees my right to do so. Recently after having a car rental application pending at SIB for more than two (2) years, they adopted a new "policy" saying that people like me, should not have car hire businesses.  SPPF hope to squeeze me back into a little box where they keep most Seychellois: the box of fear, terror, intimidation, and financial/salary enslavement.

While they squeeze brave Seychellois that oppose them openly, they caress and massage foreign friends and allow them to have a free for all in Seychelles at the expense of real Seychellois, sons of the land. By destroying voices of dissent and restoring the political landscape to a dessert of silence, SPPF is trying to have us once again believe, we have no problems in Seychelles. But that assertion could not be any further from our reality.

Why I Write

It is important to point out to SPPF, that this Column is vigilant and exist only because the SNP Opposition in the National Assembly is so lame, with exception to 2 junior SNP MNA's who still lack courage to challenge a leadership that only gets more pay for less work each day. Sorry guys, but most of you are lame. If SNP was doing the job of an effective Opposition, I could spend my time doing my own business and would entrust them to handle our political affairs. However, they use politics to get comfortable at the expense of the People of Seychelles. Hence, like SPPF, they are no longer to be trusted. Their tendency to make regular little behind the door meetings with SPPF without any frame work, leads anyone to question their intentions in politics today. Somewhere along the way, they lost their rudder.

Having said that, today, we have many problems in Seychelles. They have all been created under the SPPF communist regime, a regime where by denial has been the order of the day for 32 years. It is important that we differentiate between the "cause of our problems" and "the obstacles that prevent us from solving our problems". SPPF is the cause, SNP becomes the obstacle when it divides the Opposition and when it votes for personal salaries over welfare of our People; it becomes an obstacle when it resorts to cheap “kan kan” politics worthy of the gutter. To think this party is led by a priest! Shame on you Father Ramkalawan. If gutter politics is the style that you choose, what’s going to stop you from whistling to our daughters? Nothing!

Back To SPPF Delusions and Illusions

Let's clarify some points for the sake of our reading Public.

Enter IMF in 2008

Rene told us that Seychelles will never opt for an IMF Plan. He said for years, if IMF came to we would lose our Independence as a Nation. Rene told us for many years, because of Seychelles smallness, and its uniqueness, our economic -management was somehow different from any other place on earth. We were special, he would say. With that special circumstance, we had to do things differently, according to Rene. We had to do things the "Seychelles Way", which at one point - he even referred to it as the "Third Wave".

I do not have to go to the Public Library to reference that statement by Mr. Rene; it is imprinted on my brain, because when he said it, it sounded so foolish. But Rene has a way of making foolish things sound so nice and he has a way of getting SPPF to clap, smile and laugh when he does it. Today, no one is smiling, laughing or clapping in the SPPF camp, except of course for the likes of Mr. Zilwa himself. He is running all the way to the bank with his Sr. 1.00 joint venture, on St.AnneIsland. The up side of the joint venture is a cool $450Million in private hands while IMF raids Seychelles.

Now that IMF coming into Seychelles to take over our finances after years of mismanagement, who is having delusions? Is it me, or is it Rene and SPPF? Surely it cannot be me.  If it is SPPF, then its time for you failed gentlemen to demonstrate some intellectual respect for my Column: resort to silence in your propaganda.

Our Drug Problem and Escobars

For years and years, we pleaded with SPPF to do something about the drug problem in Seychelles and those Escobars. For years and years, SPPF was silent on the matter and would blame people who raised the issue as being unpatriotic and trying to denigrate Seychelles. They would say you are vilifying Seychelles raising these non existent issues. As Rene would lead this chorus, SPPF would clap, laugh and attack on queue under orders. Concerned citizens would end up being frustrated and ridiculed. Many would go hiding, leaving SPPF to run the show on drugs and do more damage to our motherland.

SPPF would do poems on drugs, get our kids to dance a little "Sega anti drug routine", and hand out a few T- shirts that say: "Just Say No To Drugs"! This was the anti drug program. A T-shirt cost about $1.00 on the world market. With a basic print add another Dollar. So 2,000 T- shirts over 10 years works out to about $40,000.00 per year on an anti drug campaign, about as much money as a little plastic bag of cocaine, smuggled in car tires destined for high government office for a top official no one knows anything about. Of course!

In 2008, Mr. President has declared "war on drugs". Really now!! Let us all reflect together for a moment. Who has denigrated Seychelles for 32 years by remaining silent on drugs, and only allowing the evil trade to work its way up to the top brass in Government? Surely I had nothing to do with it. I only have been exercising my Public Civic duty by sounding the alarm on drugs. So when it comes to drugs, I have no illusions or delusions. I believe SPPF has been fooling the People of Seychelles and itself on the drugs issue. Only someone who earns a living or lives on drugs... will say what I say, is not true. Speak up SPPF say something. If you have no words SPPF, hire a writer, ask him to file a Report. Place the Report on a shelf, let it collect dust. After 5 years, archive it.

A Weak Police Force v/s Strong Army

How many years have we been sounding the alarm bells for a stronger Police Force? Many - But SPPF says I am being delusional by saying we do not have an effective Police Force. If the Commissioner of Police in a remote island state, on a bar stool publicly asserts that he does not know what to do anymore, would that be a delusion on my part? Of course if it is true it is not delusional, but reality.

Now it’s up to SPPF to face reality. Our Officers need better training, better pay, better equipment, better torches, better phones, some radios, even better spare tires, not to mention better vehicles and a better maintenance program. But what has happen in Seychelles for 32 years? The Police has been neglected and the Army has been spoilt with all the nice salaries, polished boots, nice uniforms, fancy torches, big guns, lots of ammo, fancy Gucci style radios, 3G phones, nice luxury standard vehicles. Soldiers even have their own personal "JJ Spirit" umbrella, just in case it rains. Their meals are delivered by Sky chef. What do the Police eat while on shift?

I am not just dreaming about this SPPF, this is our reality. Of course, SPPF will tell you that this is not true. We have no problems in over financing the Army and under financing the Police, everything is fine, relax everyone, enjoy the ride as we skin you to death the old SPUP-SPPF IMF way. A skinning we are about to get and the first casualties will be our bed-home ridden senior citizens, as SPPF does its survey over home carerers and cut the program in half. Shame on you SPPF. You give with the right hand then you take with the left hand. People of Seychelles, your Country cannot be allowed to run in this manner, if you do, you will pay through suffering daily... everyday, as long as SPPF tries to lord over you at the cost of your dignity as an individual.

While the Country goes through severe cuts and our people suffer, the Leader of Opposition joins SPPF in capacity building at the National Assembly. How Nice. People of Seychelles, open your eyes. See how evil has enveloped your Country. Only last month, he withdrew from capacity building seminars run by UNDP. This month he is back with the CPA. Get serious man!

It was Jesus' own apostle Judas that sold him to be crossed to death, today, who sells us People of Seychelles?

Remember Our Strong Rupee

How can we talk about SPPF delusions without talking about the whole gang Rene, Michel and Faure telling us for years that it is SPPF Policy that "our Seychelles Rupee will remain strong permanently, we will not devalue our strong Rupee and we must protect - nou bann aki". The talk went on and on and on for years. As they talked and dictated to the People of Seychelles, we suffered less than now, but we suffered because we were being dictated ideas of failure. Now the failure is upon us. SPPF has devalued 45% already and they will devalue another 40% and more will follow. CAUTION: they will blame this devaluation exercise as per French Technical Advisor advice on the Opposition. If this be the case SPPF, don't blame me. Blame the LO and his team who remained practically silent for 2 years while the gates to State House were thrown open to them along with tea and sugar coated cookies for ample snack.

At this dire moment, stand clear of any SPPF or French Technical Adviser over the next 90 days. Whatever detrimental happens to Seychelles, they will grab you, and blame you for it. But People of Seychelles are intelligent enough to know it is SPPF every step of the way and of course, there conspirators of silence. “Leker dan Leker avek plis DEVALYASYON.”

When we take the verbatim-rubbish SPPF has been feeding us for 32 years, and the onslaught of systematic DEVALUATION today, who is suffering from DELUSIONS in Seychelles. Surely it is not I. It is SPPF of course. Today, the People of Seychelles have been regulated to facing a life of suffering because some of our weaker brothers and sisters wanted to believe the stories SPPF told to us. Some of our green friends thought SPPF would co-opt them into a coalition government. It all sounded so good when dressed  in robes of deception.

Now, as we move forward a la SPPF, what story will they have for us over the next 90 days? Of course, they will continue to tell us, "we have no problems"......the prices of everything just keep on doubling, salaries just keep on staying the same, and our kids are not on drugs...just high. And they tell us what has now become their favorite phrase “Dan tou pei I parey” – this ladies and gentlemen whenever we hear is an admission of failure by the SPPF.

"May God Bless All Freedom Loving Seychellois"!
