JOEL MORGAN TO WALK ON WATER?

Loel Morgan. Minister for Land Use and Habitat.

According to the Seychelles Nation issue of Tuesday 17th of April 2007, “Work on Ile Perseverance is progressing well with different contractors being at different stages in the construction of a targeted 2,056 housing units.” This was a statement made by the Minister for Land Use and Habitat, Joel Morgan, during a propaganda exercise on Monday afternoon after a delegation from MLUH and a selected media inspected work on Ile Perseverance.

According to the Seychelles Nation the Minister and his party took time to admire what some referred to as the “six-million dollar view” from some of the higher floors facing the sea. It is not known if anyone amongst the delegation or the media asked Minister Joel Morgan if he could see the man in Dubai his Ministry gave away the 4.5 million dollars to, from where he stood on the higher floors. However the Minister did not hesitate to scoff at certain newspaper reports which according to the Seychelles Nation claimed that work had stopped and contractors had not been paid. If one can believe Morgan the rate of construction on Perseverance is satisfactory and the contractors have been paid, “In March alone the Ministry paid over R12 million to the contractors”. Morgan said.

This newspaper stands by all the reporting it has made in respect of the Ministry of Land Use and Habitat. The contractors were late in receiving payment and if it was not for this newspaper they would still be waiting. Le Nouveau Seychelles Weekly in the interest of all - highlighted the fact that the Ministry of Land Use and Habitat was putting the whole project in jeopardy by not paying the contractors on time. It is our duty to do so irrespective of whether the Minister likes it or not.

We have in our possession far more sensitive information, which we believe is in the interest of the public - about powerful people high-up in the Ministry of Land Use and Habitat. We will when we feel the time is right make these information available to the general public - for the time being it will be best for Joel Morgan to stop pretending he is a little saint giving the impression he can walk on water. Whatever comes first, many believe he might just sink - if he tries walking on water or when we reveal it all!
