STATE HOUSE ATTEMPT AT MANIPULATING JUDGE REILLY?

The inquiry into the events of October 3, 2006 in Victoria at the National Assembly which opened in Victoria on 19 March, 2007 in the Court of Appeal building has been adjourned until May 2007. This was not fresh news it was first made public through this newspaper three weeks ago. President Michel wants the election over and done with before Judge Michael Reilly presents his report on the matter.

Judge Michael Reilly must be mindful of the fact that the administration of President Michel will do everything in its power to manipulate situations around the inquiry – rendering it a useless exercise. The Seychelles Nation in an article in its issue of 02/04/07, last week commented that, “When it resumes in May, the enquiry is expected to deal with the actual events of October 3, 2006, when police reportedly broke up an illegal assembly in an incident where a number of people were said to be injured.”  Was this piece of “information” communicated to the Seychelles Nation by the office of Judge Michael Reilly?

This inquiry is being discredited and made to look mediocre by agents of the State. Judge Michael Reilly must ensure that the reputation of his team and his own remain what it was when they first set foot on the tarmac at the international airport in this country. The article in the ‘Nation’ was designed deliberately by State House to manipulate and distort what really took place at the National Assembly building last October. We are certain that the office of Judge Michael Reilly is not part of this game; however, his office should be wary of that kind of reporting in order not to fall victim to it.
