Georges Payet launches Chinese version of his popular New Year song

Seychelles is known for its ‘Happy New Year' songs that mark the closing of one year and usher in a new year. One such popular song is Georges Payet’s ‘Ozordi Lannen’. This song, originally in Creole, has been year after year used as the music to dance to as one welcomes the new year.

Last year Georges launched an English and French version of this song and this year to mark the Chinese Spring Festival, he launched a Chinese version of his popular 'Ozordi Lannen’ song.

The world at large knows that the Chinese Spring Festival is the biggest celebration for China and the Chinese people. As Seychelles welcomed its first direct non-stop weekly flight from Beijing and launched its third annual Seychelles-China Day celebrations last week, Georges used the occasion to launch the Chinese version of his 'Happy New Year’ song on a special music CD entitled ‘Xinnian kuaile’(Happy New Year from Seychelles).

The Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St Ange has congratulated Georges for spreading Seychelles music through the Chinese language.

“The department of culture will continue to open doors for our performing and visual artists through the long list of cultural events we organise annually. When someone goes out to reap direct benefits from these cultural events as Georges Payet is doing now we can only say congratulations to him,” said Minister St Ange when he received a copy of Georges Payet’s Happy New Year music CD in Chinese.
